Mark Brunell

He wouldn't want that much money, and he's done an OK job with Sanchez. He also wouldn't mind carrying a clipboard around. I think he's still under contract with the JETS, so it also depends what they want for him which shouldn't be much.

Brunell would be good, but I wouldn't let him go if I were the Jets. Especially since vet QBs are so hard to come by this year.

They currently have 5 QB's on their roster including a rookie qb(backup for Sanchez) on their roster and someone has to go.

I went back and tried to find some draft anaysis and prosepect opinions from back in 09 regarding freeman. Most of them said the same things that we've heard about cam. Best physical speciman at QB in the draft just needs to develop those into the NFL game. Anyone know what kind of offense Kstate ran when he was there?

Anyway, I see cam newton and think of, potentially, a better freeman.

Cam has too much swag to listen to some washed up QB like Brunell.

Here's what Cam needs...

1. Hurney to re-sign DeAngelo

2. Jerry to convince Smitty to stay

3. Jeremy Shockey to stay healthy

4. Cammy Cam Juice

Pretty sure he needs a healthy oline

Cam needs good coaching and good work ethic. It's the coaches job to teach him how to study and watch tape. If he comes in listens and bust his ass then we don't need to give up a roster spot for a washed up backup. Same for Clausen and Pike.

Most of you guys know absolutely nothing about mentoring and developing a young QB.

A vet presence in the locker room, the film room, on the sideline, is a HUGE benefit to ANY young QB. We are not talking about a guy who is going to teach Cam "physical skills or atributes". Rather, a seasoned vet who can help Cam study film and pick up on team tendancies.....talk to Cam on the sidelines about what he is seeing and not seeing....etc.

A vet like a Brunell woul provide that exact type of mentoring and support.....without the baggage of a QB controversy.

Some info on Freeman when he was coming out

Football Sense: Is a good rhythm passer, but could have used a year or two in a pro-style offense. Not great anticipating breaks on deep routes by his receivers and must do a better job of reading coverage and making checks, as he is prone to throwing into tight areas. There could be questions about his ability to make proper reads and act instinctively. He showed a better grasp for the system as a junior, but needs time before he is comfortable calling his own game. GRADE: 6.0

    • Who were we going to trade up with? The Dolphins wanted Proctor, the Rams were vehement on taking Ty Simpson, the Ravens wanted Ioane, and the Bucs werent trading with us except for maybe a kings ransom. Even if we wanted to move, we had no partner. Moot point.
    • Devin Lloyd is a stud lb but who is next to him? Prince and Nic should improve. Lee was super value but i am not counting this fourth round chicken yet. I would expect some improvement; hope to eat my words w/ a top ten D.
    • I mean I agree about diminished Cam probably still being viable. Even though it gave a preview of how teams would defend the pass against a limited QB. There was an issue with the upcoming contract he was due to get and his expectations vs the new reality of his physical status - that people tend to  overlook when looking back on it  It had an effect on things I believe   But I do have to ask… what about Tepper’s second major move? fuging clueless   I mean I would take even an injured  Cam over Bryce all day long.
