Madden 2012 Player Roles

When I play Madden the first thing I do is set up Franchise mode with the Panthers. In recent years franchise mode and Superstar Mode have sucked. This year it looks like they're making some really good changes. You can read about franchise here and Superstar here. One of the thing that intrigues me if the new implementation of "Player Roles" that will affect how players play and interact with each other in the game.

Looking at the preliminary list who on the Panthers do you think fills some of these roles.

Team Mentor

Team Leader

Injury Prone

Run Stopper

Franchise Quarterback

Defensive Playmaker

Offensive Playmaker

Playoff Performer

Shutdown Corner

Pass Rusher

Trench Warrior

Fumble Prone

Underachiever

Project Player

1st Round Pick

Future Star

Iron Man

QB of the Future

Feature Back

Off the top I see J-Stew getting the Injury Prone role, and Cam getting either Project Player or QB of the future.

Team Leader- Jordan Gross

Injury prone- Jeff Otah

Run Stopper- We don't have one

Franchise QB- Cam

Defensive Playmaker- Jon Beason

Offensive playmaker- Steve Smith

Playoff Performer- Steve Smith

Shutdown Corner- Chris Gamble

Pass Rusher- Charles Johnson

Trench Warrior- Tyler Brayton

Fumble prone-Mike Goodson

Under Achiever-Brandon Lafell

Project Player-Armanti Edwards

1st rnd pick- we usually don't pick in the 1st! Lol

Future star- we can only hope!!

Iron man- Jon Beason

QB of the future- Cam

Feature back- DeAngelo Williams

That's the best I could do. I also know for a fact that we won't necessarily have one of each of those titles on our players.

Im really looking forward to playing next year. If the NFL does get locked out, I may just simulate games every Sunday afternoon! How gay would that be!?

Hurry up August!!

Yea.... depending on how that new franchise mode works

Oh ok. I'm sure you can probably make any player a playoff performer if you give them the ball enough.

Didn't watch Hogan so don't know if he can become a shutdown CB.

The Hogan thing is kind of a bold prediction but I believe if he's healthy and under Sean McDermotts/Ron Rivera's guidance he could be our Assante Samuel

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
