QFT. I have one that I've owned for three years and I still haven't replaced the cartridge. Good warmup time and fast printing! Plus it was >$100.

We use only HP at work and I only get HP at home. Ink cartridges are cheaper. At home, it's an inkjet-do-everything (wanted the copy feature) but all that HP wants running in the background was annoying. I uninstalled everything but the print driver. I can still scan through Scanners/Cameras in the control panel and it is so much easier.

One of our properties bought a brother some years ago that was supposed to do everything. Turns out it wouldn't scan to a pdf file which is death in our business. Part of my job is getting software/hardware working for 170 properties no matter what so I found a 3rd party program that allowed that brother to scan to pdf. When it stopped printing a year later, I had them throw it out.

Too bad you aren't in the Charlotte area. I have an old HP plain inkjet you could have. Check out your local Goodwill. They have older printers for $10 or less and you can find the drivers online. Just be sure to talk to them about returning it if it doesn't work.

And for God's sake, stay away from Lexmark. Worse than Brother. You'll need a 2nd/3rd job just to afford the toner.

Yea, HP owns. Picked up a F4400 color copier/scanner/printer about a month ago, simple cartriges too, one black ink, one color ink. prints fast, and it only cost about $70.

Still printing in dark black with no sign of being out of ink. I can "clean the corona wire" and shake irt and it will print maybe 5-10 pages before it stops again. I have also covered up the little holes with duct tape where it is supposed to "see" the available ink.
