I was right I guess. That's what it looked like to me from the preview, like they had just substituted a few of the things in the movie and retold the same jokes. Boring.

Had a great time, as good as the first? hell no, and that was some sick poo. But I went with my friends so we had a blast.

Put the first one aside...

If you had never seen the first one and watched THIS one alone. Would you think it sucked?

I work at a theater and worked the midnight shift last night when they played this movie and it seemed that a lot of customers did not like the movie.

It was very surprising because half of them were absolutely hammered(it's a theater/restaurant so people were eating/drinking). I'll probably see it on my day off next week.

The original was funny and we could watch it a few more times and still pick up on some things we missed the first time.

But it became very cliche-ridden and before you knew it half the lines of the script were becoming part of our language. In the same sense as Caddyshack, it's very funny until you start hearing lines from the movie repeated on a daily basis by everyone around us who thinks the joke is in the words, not in the delivery, timing and circumstance.

I occasionally play golf with a guy who spends the entire 18 holes spewing Caddyshack lines- it's like that. Might be different if he was any good.... at golf or delivering punch lines.

By the time the word gets out, they'll already have pocketed a 100 million.

That is what I am trying to figure out. It is a sequel, so of course it isnt as good as the first one was, but it might still be funny. Should I see it, or does it suck?

I think Hollywood should look at how we, the public, grade sequels. We tend to put breakout movies, like Hangover, on such a high pedestal that there's never ever going to be a sequel that achieves that feeling we had when you saw the original.

Hollywood wants you to judge the movie on its own standing...and it's just not in our nature. I think the movie was funny as heck and just fine. I'm trying not to judge it based on the prior one. I judged POTC when I compared it to Indiana Jones 4, but only to make a comparison to show what the majority of opinions will be about it.

Meh like most of you I thought the original was better but I saw this coming. Still went and laughed. Had a good time. Pretty good movie. I think if I had saw this instead of the original first, I would think this movie was hilarious.
