Frankly, I believe the Panthers like Josh McCown too much to make a deal like this in the first place. I agree with them too. With our running game, I believe that McCown would be more than an adequate QB for this offense if Jake can't get back to where he needs to be.

It's interesting what Gross said about Jake on the radio the other day though...he said he's not a bit worried about Jake, and he seems to believe that he'll be better than ever this coming season, because he'll be over a year removed from the surgery. Maybe he knows something we don't.

I really dont think the surgery had anything to do with his poor performances.

Well, I have a feeling that Gross knows Delhomme a little better than you or I do. That doesn't meant that the surgery affected him for sure, but I don't think Gross would have said anything about it if he didn't, at least, suspect that Delhomme was having some trouble with it. He's not exactly the kind of guy that just BS's people for no reason.

maybe Gross meant Jake had the team at 12-4 at the end of the season. maybe Gross knows that the Panthers were arguable one of the best offenses in the NFL the 2nd half of the season. maybe Gross knows the Panthers don't place too much on a bad game by a player....even it if was the last one of the season.

yes.... yes i do!

ok, we were the highest scoring team in the NFL the 2nd half of the season. Jake had us at 12-4. So Cassell and his high school resume and a 1 year illusion by Belichick (w/o question THE best coach in the NFL) and you think Cassell can come in and do better than Jake last year??? I strongly disagree.

I wouldnt say best offense. Maybe best running game, but the passing was never up to that caliber.

no team scored more points the 2nd half of the season. I'll take that. Smitty also lead the league in yards per game this season. As much as we ran the ball and how efficient we did it....that Smith stat is pretty amazing. When your run game is that good and efficent there is no possible way to have a passing game of equal caliber.

No, he was specifically talking about that last game and how it usually takes any player two years to fully get over a major surgery, such as the Tommy John proceedure. He's not the first to bring up this point either. Mark Schlereth said that his son, who is a pitcher, had that surgery, and that he wasn't really his old self until two years later.

Who knows though, I'm really more worried about Jake getting his confidence back than anything else. Either way, I don't see this Cassel thing happening, because I believe they would go with McCown before spending a bunch of money for a guy who had one good season.

    • Carolina Way is gone, it went out the window with the Belichick hiring. They'll hire the best coach they can, ignoring everything else if possible.    Athletic reports that the school's top two targets are Tommy Lloyd and Billy Donovan. They don't care the buyout for a coach either, they and the boosters are willing to spend and will be going outside of the coaching family tree 100%.
    • I don't think it's a homer though when I really feel this team can beat anyone.  The points that can be scored in bunches when the big three are on has high potential.  Moose has effort for days and IMO is the heart of the team.  And didn't see Miles becoming the team "vet" in the starting lineup just roleplaying lol.   We have to limit the turnovers though (Brandon Miller I'm looking at you bud, you are a bad ball handler) and some little things.   Colby off the bench is a cheat code and him and Kaulk have a nice little game going with the picks.    Sion playing every game and just getting better each game.  He has grit.  Grant and Green also grit.  We need replace Tillman with PJ Hall though.  Tillman looks like someone that shouldn't be on an NBA court, or at least with this team, he's just too slow for this tempo.   Even McNeely looked decent tonight and can drive.   If Kaulk and Moose could even be like 30% 3pt shooters man....
