Who are some guys you are looking at in the 2nd round?

It depends on what players we get at 9 and 19, or wherever we draft if we trade, but here are some guys I would like to see us grab with the 39th pick:

Ben Hansbrough : Shot 44% from 3 pt range this year. At 6'3 203, he can play both guard positions, and showed strong ball-handling abilities as the primary ball handler this past year. Plays very hard and with a chip on his shoulder. He will probably never be a starter, but could contribute very solid minutes off the bench.

Keith Benson : Could be the center we all hope to get out of this draft. Needs to add size, but has the frame to do so. He was the primary scoring option at Oakland, scoring 18 pts a game on 55% shooting. Also averaged 10 rebounds and almost 4 blocks per game. He is a finesse player, but could turn into a starting center down the road with some muscle gain and solid coaching.

Jon Leur : Another big guy with a solid mid-range shot. Leur could give solid minutes right away. Averaged 18 points and 7 rebounds this past season for Wisconsin. He is a bit more of a banger than Benson, but his ceiling may be a little lower. He will be a top role player in the league one day.

JaJuan Johnson : Johnson is 6'10 220 is a similar player to Benson. He is more of a finesse player with good range on his shot. Averaged 20 pts 9 rebounds and 2 blocks per game last year. Was the primary scorer at Purdue. Needs to work on strength, but works hard on the defensive end. Could become a starting PF one dayk, but more than likely will be a solid role player.

There are a bunch of other guys I think can become good players that might be available at 39: David Lighty, E'twaun Moore, Jon Diebler, Shelvin Mack, Jamie Skeen. Like I've said before, I want to get a scorer and a big man in this draft. I think it would be easier to grab some scorers in the first round, then get a big man like Benson or Leur in the second. I really like Leur because he is a polished player that could contribute right away.

    • It's crazy with how much winning was going on when we had a little cool off period that we're still just a couple games out of 6th. Moussa is getting better every week and Coby is getting comfortable. Would be nice to get to 6 but I think this team is a lot more stacked than the last couple play ins. I can't remember the exact rules but if you're 7th seed and win the first game I think you automatically move on and don't have to play the second game?
    • I think it was a thing for sure. Panthers weren’t too many people’s first choice. Or 5th choice.  2022 and 2023… coaches fired mid season. Consecutive years. You want any of that?  He has definitely overseen a rehab of how the Panthers are perceived. Because we are a place that is seen as up and coming. And just the little thing of he accommodated Theilen so graciously, that gets noticed. It all adds up. Dan is doing a lot of things right, probably most things.  Needs a good draft.
    • K, I think that is dumb, but you do you. I didn't find anything online that made him out to be a dislikable person. I am certain the Panthers would have cared so much if they lost your fandom if they hired Sean Payton. But bet you would have come crawling back if Sean lead us to a Super Bowl victory or Golden leads UNC to a champion ship. It is easy to say you are gonna leave a team if the hire someone you dislike when the chips are down. But people like you tend to come crawling back once the team finds success.
