Guest Spot On Dtan

As a falcons fan. I am here just to say that I am POed that we didn't just trade up 5 more picks and take this guy. We aren't getting anywhere with MattyRattic.

Spot on, this is where you went. Falcons won't let you back in yet?

Just to let you know about this guy:

The falcons have a forum called "anything but logic" where they move threads that are just insane, Spot on had more than one thread moved there, including the one where he proposed trading Ryan & White for Vick.

He's been spot on dtan, SOD2, SOD4,SOD8,SOD16 & SOD32, pretty much getting banned every few days.

His whole schtick is that Ryan is worthless, that Vick is a football god and that the falcons should trade Ryan for Vick.

Oh, and one more thing Spot on, He's never coming back.

As far as the actual thread goes, I said on the falcons board that I'd be surprised if the panthers win more than 6 games. Don't think there's enough talent around Newton.

Don't know what Cam will be- I think this year is going to be rough for him, but he could be the next Big Ben [ on the field] . In a couple of years, the NFCS could have four of the best QBs in football.

I think he works too hard to be a JRussell type bust, but he might not make it big either; who knows? Either way, the panthers are a lot more interesting than they were before the draft.

thats a pretty good post except for the part about talent. williams, stewart, smith, shockey and our line aren't talented?

i truly believe that our biggest problems last year were under center and HC.

Not to mention 2 promising rookie WRs last year and a possible FA WR

From an offensive standpoint, most of the same team from 2008 which won 12 games with Jake Delhomme under center is there (with the exception of Moose who was long in the tooth at that point). None of the guys now are past their prime either. Sometimes you have to look beyond what a team's record is to see there's talent in place.

Did you really just attempt to explain that to a Falcons fan?? What a waste of your time!

I actually understand that, just don't see that Newton is going to be that much better than Clausen- this year. And , not trying to be insulting [not my style], but that's triple the wins from last year.

Anything is better than Clausen from last year. I will take lobs into triple coverage over Clausen's style of play last year. It was soul crushing, and I don't even put that entirely on him, but it killed this team.

I don't know how many Panther's games you saw this season, but having seen worst of Delhomme, Weinke, Peete, Collins, Carr, and Moore I can say that Clausen this last season was by far the least capable starter I have ever seen get significant time at the quarterback position.

Newton will instantly be better than Clausen simply because he's a threat to pull the ball down and run, defenses will have to play us much more honestly.

If you all-out blitz Clausen and miss, he'll run for the sideline and throw it out of bounds, if you all-out blitz Cam and miss, he'll be in your endzone.

    • Also, the fact we are comparing this one to the 10 preseason tells me we are in for another horrible year.
    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
