Bucs QB Freeman See Some of Himself in Cam Netwon - Charlotte Observer

As with any player, you're right, we have to see what he does on the field. But in my experience, and past observations, the likelihood of him being successful is high due to the things he is doing now.

When you look at a guy like Jamarcus, a guy that a lot of people tried to compare him to, if he went out on the field and failed... He was okay with that. He had a nice Jamarcus piece on his chain and a fancy bracelet to wear that costs more than most people's cars. And that was all he wanted.

When you see a guy preparing like Cam is, it tells me that this guy won't accept failure. It tells me if he has a bad game, it's going to eat at him until he gets it right. As long as he keeps up what he is doing, I have all the confidence in the world that he's gonna be great.

While anything can happen, you are absolutely correct in noting that success on the field doesn't just happen, it is a result of preparation, hard work, desire and effort. So it makes sense that if he is willing to put in the time, work hard, and has a burning desire to succeed, that he will be successful. There are many guys who didn't come into the NFl with great skills. Josh Freeman is a classic example. But through hard work and effort he elevated his play until he has been very successful in 2010.

There is absolutely no reason to believe that if Cam does the things he needs to do (and he has up to now) he won't be successful.

clinging to all you got left I see. Everyone who reads this board knows you have had negative things to say about every aspect of Newton. From he won't even play for 2 or 3 years, won't know the playbook, might be too stupid to read defenses because his wonderlic was lower than some other quarterbacks, poor character and questionable work ethic and the list goes on.

But keep at it. You have been wrong at every turn and will be again once he shows it on the field. You just keep posting until it becomes plain to everyone that you don't have a clue.

Don't worry though there will plenty of folks there to remind you. :biggrin5:

I never mentioned how his wonderlic was bad and would lead to him not being able to read defenses. I simply stated that when defenses played zones against him, forcing him to make reads and not rely on his man beating one on one coverage, he made some bad decisions, which leads me to believe he might not be able to read defenses yet.

I'm sorry you took it to mean I think he is stupid. I base my opinions on stuff I see on the field.

Never questioned his work ethic, just said he had a lot to improve on.

I respect you and your opinions sir I just think you have misunderstood some of my criticisms and sensationalized others.
