BRADENTON, Fla. - A quarterback with a Heisman Trophy and national championship has been sweating under an unforgiving Florida sun this offseason, following a regimen that could help the Panthers bounce back from last year's 2-14 disaster.

Chris Weinke says progress has been good.

Their first day together, Weinke went over 30 plays with Newton on the dry-erase board, then went outside and ran them. After a film session later in the day, Weinke put Newton at the board and quizzed him on each of the plays.

Newton was 30 for 30.

Cam is no dummy.

Wouldn't it be funny if, a decade after drafting him and six years after the ludicrous "bench Jake" controversies on here, we all finally thanked god that the panthers drafted chris weinke?

    • What people fail to understand is Lance had a college career that lasted about as long as teenage boys first intercourse.  To say he was raw was an understatement.  So much so that even a QB whisperer had a difficult time molding him into a polished NFL product on top of multiple nagging injuries.  The dud is in his mid-twenties, finally healthy and little miles on the tread.  Low risk, high reward.  If he's available, it would be stupid not to kick the tires.  It took Darnold and Mayfield to hit their 3rd or 4th team for things to finally click.  This is Lance's 3rd stop, I believe.  It's either time for it to click for him or be relegated to a full time backup. Roll the dice....
    • Wrong.  At least we put a QB sneak in the play book and and add plays over 20 yards.
    • I don’t know if people realize that Evan’s was one of the top TE prospects in college  before having some horrible injuries. I wanna say he had two major injuries in back to back seasons which limited his play and dropped his draft stock.
