Thanks for the info SC... I actually just played a guy who was using Michigan and I gave Ohio St. a try... I was losing 24-21 with 25 secs. left, made him turn it over on downs, then took it all the way down the field and scored a TD to win the game with the backup QB in because Pryor got knocked out.

Epic.

But, I believe he was running 4-2-5 at and I was having a hard time getting anything going at first... So, I went to 5 wide so I could open it up and see where he was bringing the pressure from and then was hitting one of the WRs streaking up the side running next to each other - whichever one the coverage came off of.

Sounds like it .. if you went 5 wide .. and he didn't have defense for it he obviously was picking his play before you .. I wait on the offense to pick the play so it will tell me how many of what are on the field .. he should have been in the dime 3-2-6 or the nickel 2-4-5 but he's a dummy .. that's what he gets.

To clarify btw .. to make a 4-2-5 defense .. the 5th defensive back or the (spur) is the 2nd strong safety on the depth chart. So if you are interested in trying out that defense .. keep that in mind.

the guy I play against runs the 4-2-5, and then maybe the strong nickel with a safety blitz sprinkled in.....

I like more of a pro/shotgun type of PB

All those are included in 4-2-5 .. btw. Nickel strong and 4-2-5 are basically the same .. replace the 3rd safety with a nickel back and you have the strong nickel. In 4-2-5 If he's not consistently bringing you a safety he's giving you too much breathing room honestly.

The Defensive AI is retarted as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

I'm tired of my players just standing there as the opposing team just runs right by them.

YES! ..I also hate that when you try to take an upward angle to the ball carrier it shuffles instead until you hit R2-RT I've had some slow fuggers just run right by me until I figured that out the other day.

I'm not going to lie, this game has been a big disappointment compared to past releases. It's impossible to pass the interception rates are ridiculously high.

Not to mention, while playing against the computer on AA mode, I will force a 3 and out, followed by a couple punts..I'm playing lights out defense and winning like 17-10 or something like that and all of a sudden when the computer gets the ball again...they won't do sh!t until 3rd down and complete a 20 yard pass.

it's frustrating and I can honestly say this game, right now, is prob a 5-6/10

    • The NFL eats giant bad contracts all the time. I looked and the 3rd starts at 6.7 at pick 67 and 6.1 at pick 96. With the way the NFL cap keeps going up and how they all work the cap it really shouldn't be an issue for any team that can get 1 year out of rookies.  Maybe it would cut down on teams taking giant leaps on guys they shouldn't? This would have got Hurney fired in 3 years lol
    • Nothing wrong with starting to look for bodies early. It's a long injury filled season. I doubt we get through unscathed.
    • We're in alignment regarding Thielen not being a game changer/breaker for the Panthers. Getting the ball into hands of playmakers like TMac and XL is going to open up things more than it is getting it to Thielen underneath (or letting him go after 50/50 balls 20yds downfield in his mid-30s). However, in a room where the other guys are two second year guys and two rookies, having a reliable vet that they can learn from is just as important as it is for the QB to have as a reliable third option. I can see that being worth $8.5M (just 3%) of the $279.2M cap... especially when looking at what's left out there: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/position/wr However, the idea that the team is forcing production to Thielen and leading to losses isn't supported by the data. Targets, not receiving yards, are how you can tell if a player is being "force fed." In the two games mentioned, let's look at the other players available... vs. TB 10 targets - Adam Thielen 9 targets - David Moore 8 targets - Tommy Tremble, Xavier Legette 3 targets - Jonathon Brooks 1 target - Dan Chisena, Feleipe Franks, Stephen Sullivan vs. PHI 11 targets - Adam Thielen 8 targets - Xavier Legette 5 targets - Chuba Hubbard, David Moore 2 targets - Tommy Tremble 1 target - Ja'Tavion Sanders, Deven Thompkins There isn't exactly a bounty of other names to throw the ball to. In those games, AT was one of the top 2 WRs. Diontae had been gone by that point.   So... yea. Agreed that Thielen isn't exactly carrying the team in his mid-30s, but it's undeniable that he was the most reliable target last season that still has quite a bit of value this season. Whether or not that value is reflected in a manner folks think on the contract is going to come down to personal taste. However, the idea that the team was forcing production to AT and that was the reason behind some losses couldn't be further from the truth.
