Clausen must start! Yes, you read this right.

For everyone of those I will raise you a

Come on man, seriously you point out every single bad thing that is said about the guy but yet post nothing at all bad about Cam? Could you please at least try not looking so hommerish?

you aren't raising me.....

Clausen is consistent. I have stated that several times. He is consistently throwing the short routes and isn't making the type big plays Cam is.

Rivera was asked about Clausen and he gave a standard coach answer......nothing more. From the looks of things I may be off on Cam taking over preseason game 3.....he might get the tag preseason game 2.

I am not pointing out everything bad.....there is a consistent theme with everything being said about Clausen. Nothing coming out of camp supports your stance on the kid over Cam.

Either way it is "clearly obvious" Newton isn't ready. I mean they are going to work on his mechanics so CLEARLY he sucks

I never said Newton was ready...he won't be (most aren't). But he will be a better option than Clausen (which is all I have said).

Cam needs a lot of work in the passing game. But he can already do some very good things. Clausen is more consistant with certain throws.....but he has shown virtually no ability to create any offense with those throws while with Carolina (camp, preseason, games, and back to camp again).

FWIW, here's this dummy's 0.02 :

Clausen:

-accurate

-better under center

-poor posture...stance too wide, 3/4 delivery, plays smaller than his 6'2" frame

-very conservative with progressions and decisions

-lacks consistency with 20y+ routes to run the offense, as designed

-lacks confidence in his own ability to make throws in tights windows

Newton:

-not very fluid from under center

-not stepping into all throws

-still struggles with multiple reads

-nice touch on corner, post and fade routes

-excellent vision and size

-can make 20y+ throws under duress, in and out of pocket, with relative ease

-not afraid to take risks

Anderson:

-gives good pressers in Arizona

Lot of questions will reveal answers over the next couple weeks. It's definitely a heated battle. My edge goes to Newton.

only thing I disagree with is you need to change that from 20y to 10y+ for Clausen.
