Everyone knows we can't Trade PEP until he signs the Tender, Right?

Just want to make sure everyone knows that we cannot trade Peppers until he actually signs the Franchise Tag Tender Offer. Not sure what the timing is, as far as how late he can do this, but we cannot talk to any team at all about Peppers until he is our property, and he won't be our property until he signs the Franchise Tender. I just wish he would hurry up and do it, since he doesn't want to make it difficult on us and all, you know...

In other words he has all the power right now, if he signs the tender, the Panther's Organization has all the power.

You are correct, as Adam states. I just wanted to make sure everyone wasn't getting pissed at the Front Office. It is totally out of their hands unless / until he signs the tender offer.

I honestly think we are going to stuck with this guy next year. He already takes off about half the plays anyways, can't wait to see what he does next year. I think that is part of our issue, if anyone actually watches tape on this guy you will clearly see it. Sure he makes some amazing plays, but most of the time, he won't even jump on a pile that end right at his feet.

Peppers has a franchise tender and cannot be traded until he signs it, which means any trade discussions must go through his agent, Carl Carey.

All this means is that Carey has to become a middle man in working out a trade. If a team makes an contract offer to Peppers that he would accept then Carey will make a phone call to Hurney and ask if the Panthers are willing to trade with said team. Once Carey thinks the deal is likely then Peppers will sign the tender and the trade will be done.

Schefter makes it sound like a trade can not happen. The Panthers are actually being smart about the situation and having Carey do all the work knowing he doesn't want Peppers to sign the tender yet.

Actually, you are wrong. We can't ship him to any team, because Peppers has to agree to the trade (even if he signs the tender). For the sole reason that, no team in their right mind would trade top draft picks for a player if they are not willing to re-sign a new long-term deal. Peppers obviously would not just sign a long-term deal with any team (like the Lions).

Even if he does sign the tender, the ball is still somewhat in his court.

Correct, and Peppers signing the tender would actually work agaisnt the Panthers in ways so it really doesn't matter if he signs it or not IMO.

Basically peppers wont agree to any deal he doesn't like so it will come down to one of two things: Staying with the panthers and getting a huge one year pay deal, or finding a team that peppers likes that is willing to give the panthers something they like in return. The only other way is if peppers wants to leave so bad he caves and goes to a crappy team just to get out of carolina. The X factor is what the panthers organization will settle for in return for peppers. 2 first round picks is going to be almost impossible to get

No it wouldn't because no one in their right mind would give the panthers two first rounders for him. When he signs the tender the panthers organization holds all the power.

Peppers has plenty of power even if he signs the tender. No team will trade for him if he's unwilling to play for them or sign a long-term deal.

If he signs the tender it does not matter because then he is under contract and we have the right to send him anywhere, now another team may not want to agree to this trade if peppers comes out and says he will not play for that specific team like Ken Lucas did. But we cannot trade peppers until he signs the tender because he is not under contract, just because we franchised him does not mean that the specific player is under contract and since Peppers has been given the non-exclusive franchise tag, he can sign with someone until November 9th (The 10th week of the NFL season).

This is why I talk ill of the FO. Not because "Hurney isn't signing anyone!!", but because I think this Pep thing will drag out and more than likely he won't be traded, thus we have to restructure all these people to make room. And if we do trade him, we will scrape the bottom of the FA barrel. Sometimes that works for us, sometimes it doesn't.

This is ALL about Pep.

      He's not wrong though. You talk like a politician on here. Leaving yourself just enough wiggle room to say you never fully counted Bryce out if you need to....But we can all see it. Just say you think he is a bust outright and you will have to type a lot less. Obfuscating your opinion behind QB3 competitions etc....

      Most EVs are in the 90+ e-MPG meaning some measurement house somewhere compares the EV to a similar ICE model and works out how much is costs to charge (on average) versus fill up as a point of comparison. Talking long term, in the hundreds of thousands of miles?  No clue.  Some early signs are that EV batteries maintain 80% charge over 400k miles.  So there's that.   The challenge and charm of an ICE vehicle is being able to park it under a tree, get your jack stands out and tinker with your engine.  There's just not that same level of complexity in an EV.  I saw someone estimate there are 200 or so moving parts in an EV, and 2000 in an ICE vehicle.  I'm not a part counter so I can't really speak to that. I think that the EV is more the future than any type of combustion engine.  Those will still be around in specific purposes, but for most people - an EV will be the superior option in terms of efficiency.  I say that as someone who loves stupid horsepower numbers out of turbo 4 bangers and inline 6s...  I am one of those tinkers when I can be. A bigger issue for EVs is going to be the ownership versus lease.  Right now, there are INSANE leases on EVs, which is great, but what do you have at the end of that lease?  Nada, maybe some equity if you're lucky.  Where as I'm almost done paying for my car, and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off (or my son wrecks it when he starts to drive).  Will EV makers do the smartphone thing and build in planned obsolesce?  Stop updating software?  I love the tech in EVs, and I think getting more cars and trucks off the road is a good thing.  But I am still just a little concerned.  Capitalism has gotten far too extractive.
