So Mr. Wino and I are taking a little staycation next week. Don't have the money to do the whole vacation thing..so I was looking into great day trips and came across the Mile High Swinging Bridge up in G'father Mt....what else is pretty cool to see or do up there that would be worth the trip up the mountain?

Grandfather mountain is not bad for a few hours. In addition to the bridge, they have a small zoo with Cougars and Bears and a few other animals. There are a few other things to do in the area. There are some mild whitewater rafting trips on the Watuaga River, and they have an outdoor play/drama in Boone called Horn in the West, about Daniel Boone. There are some decent restaurants with ABC permits in Blowing Rock.

Boone also has ABC permits now if you weren't aware, and as such has had a bigger influx of fine dining.

Yea I knew. I prefer Blowing Rock over Boone though, at least when App State is in session. Its less crowded.

Last time I was in Blowing Rock, we ate at a little place that was literally on the side of a Mountain a few miles from Tweetsie Railroad. Best Pecan Trout I ever had. Can't remember the name of it though.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
