Bernard Scott rushed six times for 63 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers in his 2011 preseason debut.

As usual, Scott was far more explosive than starter Cedric Benson (16 carries, 68 yards). Scott should be locked in as the primary backup entering Week 1. We highlight the performance to note that all fantasy players should be started against a Panthers defense that has made Andy Dalton, Chad Henne, Reggie Bush, and the Bengals' backs look like stars the past two weeks.

Get your heads out of the clouds and take off those rose-colored glasses. This year might not be pretty. The only thing that I can really say positive (which is SPIN) is that there is plenty of room for improvement on both sides of the ball.

it's true. it's been a while since I've been this worried about the defense

~Gamble sucks and we have no #2 corner(Asante Samuel is NOT the answer. Look at what Reid did to Arizona with Kolb, we need to save our picks for next year because chances are they're all going to be VERY valuable).

~Worst group of defensive tackles I've ever seen watching football

~Jon Beason is injured, and we don't know when he'll come back/if he'll be healthy enough to play to his potential

~average safeties at best, which isn't a bad thing but when our cornerback situation is so fuging awful you need those guys to carry a bigger load, which I'm not sure they're capable of

~Charles Johnson will be fine but we need another DE to step up or we'll be fuged. can't rely on one guy to do all the work.

~as much as I like Thomas Davis there is still a good chance he gets injured again, if he goes down we're fuged even worse

then you have the right side of the o-line acting like a revolving door, not good for our run game or QB

ugh, I can't take another #1 pick season, even though we'll be able to bend over another team for a Herschel Walker-type trade for Luck. losing sucks bawls.

in before I'm called a bad fan for being realistic

You act like this is news. We went 2-14 last year, not 14-2. "Its not going to be pretty" No poo.

your right asante samuel isnt the answer but it would fugging help a whole lot. We waste second and third round picks every year why not get something useful for once. You cant get a Asante Samuel in the 2 or 3 round so i say do it. But everything else u said i agree with

That's true but where has all our draft pick trades gotten us? It's made us one of the worst teams in the league. We don't even know if Samuel wants to play for us and there were rumors that he hated McDermot.

Rebuilding is a process. A long one at that. We're lucky that we've got some really solid players locked up long term to help with it, but we're still a few guys away from competing.

well i agree once again. WE need to build around the draft and it has gotten us into a mess. And if Marty Hurney wasnt the gm then i would say save picks and build this team up the right way. But obviously he isnt capable of making smart and good picks. So i suggest instead of waiting until next years draft and trading up in the 2 round to get a 4ft 2 cb(something marty would do) i say we get a really good corner that will be pretty good and help out with very mediocre corners

yes but when u go into this years draft do u predict we draft somebody that could be as good as asante

Tom Brady was a 6 rd pick. But u cant get but one tom brady. All im saying is that Asante has been a very good corner. Underated imo, but i know it would be hard to get him and thats fine with me. Im a dreamer.

I was going to bed until I read something that blew my mind. Did you say Asante Samuel was UNDERRATED?? lmmfao. I really gotta go now. wow.

yes i said underated . Look at the stats. In terms of how many times the QB throws at asanste compared to an asomugha or a revis...yes hes underrated. But has one of the highest incompletion ratio percentage. Compared to your shutdown corners he is underrated for the stats he puts up

    • There are several posters that only post negative at all times.   8 wins is a big jump from 5 and we still have 2 games.  Jaguars have a much more talented roster than us and have underachieved for years.
    • All of this noise is just setting us up to lose Week 18 and proclaim life's not fair. If there's one thing I know in my 30+ years of watching the Hornets and Panthers, is that the bad guy always wins in the end. A team can be falling apart internally but we will still lose to them. A team's fanbase can be extra shitty and cocky and they will just win anyway. It always happens
    • Well even if we took diverging paths getting there...our overall assessment of Shough is the same (bolded) lol so I guess that's what matters.  What you call "playing at a level that looks like a veteran starter" is the same thing I'm referencing when I talk about his poise.  Although I still wonder how truly "bad" of a team the Saints are.  Their defense is middle-of-the-road, and their offense does have some good pieces (Olave, Juwan Johnson) outside of running back which is the position most everyone agrees is relatively plug-and-play.  I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the majority of NFL team's o-lines lol but I'm assuming Saints are not great there, although Shough's pressure % seems to have been quite low (and steadily improving) over the last four weeks (20 -> 16.7 -> 15.0 -> 13.0) so maybe they've been playing better as of late, or perhaps Shough himself deserves credit for that.   Some of the language I'm hearing about Shough, including talking about how he's way above league average in several categories, makes it sound like Shough is having a rookie season on par with like a CJ Stroud who established himself as basically a Top 5-10 QB his rookie season.  Maybe that's on me though, I don't mean to attribute anything to you that I'm sure you don't agree with.
