It wasn't Manning's record to give up.

The record that Cam Newton surpassed today did not belong to Peyton Manning. He was just the holder of the modern day record.

The all time record of 346 yards (until today) belonged not to Peyton but to Otto freaking Graham.

So let's not belittle Cam's accomplishment by saying he took from that johnny-come-lately Peyton Manning.

Peyton Manning is a "Johnny-come-lately?" :smilielol5:

Manning owns almost every freaking passing record in the book! (Except interceptions!) Get your head out of you ***!

Oh, BTW, the Panthers are 0-1!

Cam's not a 4 time MVP yet, and he doesn't own a Super Bowl Ring! I wouldn't anoint him just yet!

Obviously, you struggle with the concept of sarcasm.

But actually, compared to Otto Graham, Peyton Manning is a johnny-come-lately. So there.:p

I'm confused. Fox said it was rookie debut record. NBC broadcasters said he tied the record. Which is it?

Also, I wonder if they took into account his rushing yards.

Both. He tied the rookie mark for passing yards in any game and broke passing yards for anyone's debut game.

They're both right - Cam set the debut record as Fox said, but he also tied the rookie record for passing yards in a game, which is what NBC mentioned.
