Steve Smith in HOF?

Why? TO has better numbers in just about every category.

Numbers alone won't be the deciding factor. Character counts with the HOF. If TO becomes more of a model citizen or enough years pass so that people forget all the bad press he gets, then he could get in. But right now it would be unlikely. In that regard the two fights that Smith has had would also be considered an issue and will be negative factors in his consideration if he puts up enough numbers to even be on the list of finalists.

Only Jerry Rice has caught more TDs. And outside of him only Marcus Allen and Emmit Smith have more TDs (Marcus is in and Emmit is about to get in). 9 1,000 yard seasons, 6 pro bowls, 5 time first team all pro. Like him or not, his productivity and work ethic as a receiver can not be denied.

He had NO work ethic last year. To be a HOF in my mind, you can't be a cancer in the locker room and give up on the game when things aren't going your way.

Of the QBs that are available right now?

I thought he was talking about in the league in general. Not those who were available in Free Agency.

Not in order.Tom, Peyton, Kurt, Drew, Phillip, Jay, Eli, Donovan, Ben, Matt, Carson(if healthy)

As someone mentioned, factors other than stats matter, character being one. The HOF enshrinees aren't the voters for potential inductees. The people that choose are writers from the cities that have NFL teams (2 from New York), and unfortunately outside of Charlotte, NC message boards Smitty isn't held in the highest regard character-wise.

When written about in other parts of the country, he's just as likely to get mentioned as being involved in stealth assaults of Anthony Bright, Guilian Gary, and Ken Lucas, along with the kicking of the Houston player, as any other accomplishments. Things like those tarnish the high standard needed to join a limited group representing the best of the best.

Smith has the talent down for sure, and while a super bowl will help, it is not a must. Look at Steve Largent, the Seahawks only HOF player. The biggest reason he got in aside from stats is the impact he made on the team. Smith has made a big impact for the panthers, and racked up some great stats on the way. It is not a huge stretch that he will have a shot if he gets thrown to more in the next few years.

Not from where I'm standin' brutha. As you can see, I don't live in Charlotte. Being as it that I live in a major metropolitan area (sans NFL team) and also work with people from all over the world, I think it is safe to say that group you speak of is very small in numbers. The first thing people think of when you mention Panthers is either A.) A player from there local Alma Mater that plays for the Panthers or B.) How bad-ass that Smith guy is. There is not much mention of his past except for what transpired in TC and even then, people saw how it quickly blew over.
