For those that wanted Jim Harbaugh:

Declining Football IQ: Leading 21-14 early in the fourth quarter, the Forty Niners hit a long field goal; the Cowboys were flagged. Jim Harbaugh (Harbaugh/West to TMQ) had a choice of first down on the Dallas 22 with 11:16 remaining, but no three points, or a score of 24-14 and a kickoff from the 50. Harbaugh/West chose the latter. The kickoff simply went into the end zone for a touchback, as it probably would have anyway.

TMQ thought Harbaugh/West's plan was to onside from the 50, where a failed onside would have surrendered little field position and a recovery would have iced the game. Instead by kicking away, San Francisco effectively wasted the penalty. Had the Niners accepted the penalty and first down on the Dallas 22, they stood a good chance of working a couple minutes off the clock, then getting at least three points after all. As it was, Dallas kicked a field goal as time expired to force overtime, then won. Reader Michael Purdy of McLean, Va., notes that if San Francisco had simply used to the penalty first down to keep advancing the clock, Dallas would have run out of time for its comeback.

Moron is a bit strong but it was definitely a rookie coach error.

I love me some TMQ but this should have gone under one of his Sour Play headings and not an something to insult Harbaughs intelligence..

Ours did the same....Sunday's call opting to take a 3rd and 7 instead of 2nd and 17. I know he had another one the week before too, I can't remember what it was.

I said this in another thread that Harbaugh was playing just like Fox with being conservative in that game. He also answers no questions in press conferences, just using cliches like Fox. I'm not going to call him a moron, but I'm definitely happy we got ron because Harbaugh would have just reminded me too much of Foxy, and we needed a huge change.

    • An odd little vibe I've noticed here of late: some folks are "all or nothing" to an absolutely extreme level when it comes to Bryce. There are, in fact, things Bryce does well. Likewise, there are areas in which he's improved over his time here. He has, on several occasions now, legitimately helped us win games. On the flipside, there have been failures in other areas as well as coaching that we're not in any way his fault.  And finally , it is also genuinely possible that the team may see him as the future, even if we don't. The craziest part, though? It's actually possible that they're right and we're wrong. All of this is true, and more, yet if you accept any of these premises people go from zero to apesh-t in under three seconds 😳 Anything less than total disavowal of Bryce and / or agreement that he's the worst QB of all time and suddenly you're a "stan". Oy 🙄 The reality though?  Bryce is indeed an NFL quarterback. Not a great one, probably backup level good, and I've seen way worse. Now, if you run that statement through your personal Google translator and it comes back with some version of "I want to throw 50 million a year at Bryce for the next 10 years", that's not really my issue it's yours  I don't wanna make him the franchise quarterback, but it's not my call. Win or lose, the team is going to do what they think is best. And as always, if it disagrees with what I think we should do, I'm gonna hope I'm the one who's wrong. Internet clout means nothing. Watching my favorite team win at my favorite sport meas fun 😁
    • I like Icky but he was the wrong tackle to take. Learning run blocking is much easier than learning pass blocking. Cross was pass pro ready. He was the tackle we should have taken without hesitation.
    • Never saw this angle of the Tyson fight either lol.
