Deion Branch or Darrius Heyward-Bey?

In a really tough spot this week.

First, some back ground.

My division is very competitive, fortunately I have far and away the best team in the league, in spite of my 6-2 record (two slip ups, those two losses were by a combined total of 3.5 points)

Those two losses have me second in the division to a guy who has the second best team in the league and 7-1 record-his lone loss coming to me in Week 1. Because of how competitive the division is though, I really can't risk losing. Besides, I've never had a loser mentality of shooting for second place anyways. A win this week would give me the number one seed in our division (the other division is horrid, the number one seed in that division has a losing record) and essentially lock me up a playoff berth.

So, as stated in my headline-with Smitty(whom I drafted in the 9th) on a Bye this week, and Reggie Wayne sucking this year-I'm stuck choosing between Darrius Heyward Bey or Deion Branch. ESPN is telling me go DHB, NFLN is saying go Branch. My number one WR is Greg Jennings (behind Smith of course.)

This is a big week for me, need to make sure I get it right.

I think Branch's recent touchdowns are a bit of an anomaly. Brady prefers his TEs in the red zone. But on the other hand, you know Bush is going to get the work in the red zone in Oakland. I just have a good feeling about Palmer and Hey-Bey this weekend. If you get a bonus at 100 yds, I'd go wtih DHB on the upside.

Wayne has not gotten a TD since Week 1 and has gotten 6 points almost every week. I've consider him, but do not trust him.

DHB got 11 targets from Carson Palmer two weeks ago, and now with Oak coming off of a bye, he currently is the guy I'm favoring. He's got boom potential.

Raiders receivers tend to be switched up in targets, one week it's DHB, one week it's Denarius Moore, etc. I think TJ Houshmanzadeh's signing confounds that further.

I'd go with DHB. I am starting him, looking for the raiders to light up the broncos.

Branch has the better QB with Brady, but they are against NYG who have a decent defense and something to play for.

Either or would be a good choice you'd think, go with the gut.

just to update you guys, I won and now am in first place in my league.

Interestingly enough, Desean Jackson and Santonio Holmes both came available in my league, and I'm hoping to get my hands on at least one. Could be a monster help for me.

Snag jackson while you can. Eagles are gonna turn,it round in the 2nd half of the season

Wasn't able to snag Jackson which isn't surprising. Was last in the waiver order. DID get my hands on Santonio Holmes and Antonio Brown, so I like my depth there now. Also managed to snag Peyton Hillis, which was a low risk-high reward move considering I dropped Joseph Addai to get him. Sitting pretty.

    • This is huge may not be a trap game but this plays a major part in what they want to do. If we can get some pressure on Sam we know what he does with pressure coming hit and heavy. Also we may be able to take the top off their defense a backup safety trying to stop TMac or Cooker over the top or forcing him to play the backend should allow us to run the ball somewhat effectively. Either they allow some runs or we take some shots and if Bryce and whoever can connect deep we’ll be in business for another big time win against a top notch opponent. Might not be a trap game but health travel game plans all play a major role in each weeks game plan and this week might be leaving our way. We’re missing some replaceable pieces they’re missing key anchors to the offense and defense major difference time to solidly ourselves at one of the top teams in the nfc tomorrow fellas buckle up.
    • Yes.  If I am not mistaken, we need to sign Coker to the ERFA tender and insist that XL spends his spring and summer at a WR camp and not Coon huntin on his four wheeler.  XL was raw when we picked him--which is why I wanted to go another direction--and we are seeing how raw.  He is basically learning a position.     The Panthers will make their move in 2026 to be an NFL powerhouse behind Bryce.  Bryce needs intelligent WRs who catch the ball.  That said, we need a solid #2 to challenge XL and make cutting him easy, if necessary.  A #2 WR (intented to be a #1 by now) with under 400 yards is embarrassing.   On offense, you have to ask, "Where can we get better?"  In my view, #2 WR, TE (although they are improving) and maybe C (again, if we re-sign Mays, he is trending up and at 26, entering his prime--I say stay with him and find competition later in the draft (not good for C).  OL depth maybe?  In other words, XL is a glaring weak spot.
