What's up guys it's me back at it again. I have to apologize to you guys from last week USC Vs Stanford game. I didn't know it wasn't going to play through out the state of NC,SC, or GA area. So please accept my apology. This week we actually have a prime time game tonight. It will be a real draft heavy game so pay attention, because there could be a couple of players that may end up on the panthers.

key guys to look for.

1. Morris Claiborne CB 6'0" 173 LSU. Reminds me of a Champ Bailey. Top 5 pick.

2. Dre Kirkpatrick CB 6'3" 190 Alabama. Reminds me of a Antonio Cromartie but could be Better. 1st round top 15 pick.

3. Trent Richardson RB 5'11" 224 Alabama. 1st round top 10 pick.

4. Courtney Upshaw OLB 6'2 271 Alabama. 1st round top 20 pick.

5. Mark Barron Safety 6'1" 223 Alabama. 1st round late 20's to 30 pick.

6. Josh Chapman NT 6'1" 310 Alabama. Late 1st early 2nd round pick.

7. Robert lester Safety 6'2" 210 Alabama. Early 2nd round pick to mid or late.

8. Donta Hightower MLB 6'4" 260 Alabama. Late 1st to early 2nd.

9.Nico johnson MLB 6'3" 245 Alabama. Late 2nd to mid 3 round pick.

10.Marquise Maze WR 5'10" 180 Alabama. 3 round pick to 4 round.

11. Tyrann mathieu CB 5'9" 175 LSU. Only a Sophomore but is a beast on the field. The closest thing you will see to ED Reed. Just and outstanding Game changer.

12. Reuben Randle WR 6'4" 208 LSU. 3 round pick or a 4 round pick.

I was just wondering why random letters are capitalized and others aren't.

EDIT: On topic, I think Upshaw, Kirkpatrick, and Claiborne are the people to watch, especially as it relates to the Panthers' draft this coming year.

Mathieu is an insane player, but I don't think he's eligible to leave for the draft year, is he?

Upshaw does not fit our scheme at all.. he is a 3-4 OLB, if anything.

Claiborne, Kilpatrick, and Chapman are really the only 3 guys we might be targeting.

And Chapman isn't a 3-4 NT? :p

I understand that Upshaw is a 3-4 LB, and that's fine, but, would he be better than a 3-time torn ACL Thomas Davis? At this point, we need to watch ALL linebackers in college football, regardless of scheme.

(Even though, Upshaw is a giant person.)

Chapman can play a 3-4 NT.. but that also means he can play a 4-3 NT. 3-4 OLB can't play 4-3 OLB. If we have interest in Upshaw, it would be at DE, if anything.

He does actually.he can play SLB in a 4-3 plus he can get after the qb.

Upshaw is way way too slow for our scheme at OLB. I know some of you guys like to to think that players are 'plug-in-play' and scheme diverse, but that is simply not the case.

    • FA may or may not be the best option each time. You know as well as I do that the LT is the highest paid position on offense behind QB and WR. If you have cap concerns, it would be better to draft a quality LT and hold him for 3-4 years before you have to sign him to a long term (and expensive 2nd contract). I wouldn't want to acquire a run stuffing DT in FA if I could get a younger one much cheaper in the draft.  Let's say no good Safties are on the market when prior to drafting. Once again you'd go to the draft. FA is a good way to feel out the roster prior to the draft, but it's possible to REACH there too. FO's usually end up over playing guys (at least at certain positions) who have already peaked. Besides, you always have to consider that the team that let them go didn't think they were worth the price they were asking to retain them. That certainly applies to our defense. We could draft the BPA at any level of our defense and immediately improve our team. A stud on the line beside DB would help the the run and pass defense. Our LB core needs a thumper/impact player at any position. We need another CB to play alongside JC. We have yet to see a Safety on our roster significantly impact a game this year.
    • Maybe Rod will change it up and slot Bussi in net. Why risk the inevitable injury to Freddie this early in the season against a team that will likely win regardless.  Just show up and play to win, that's all I ask.
    • Well, I feel the same way about pharmaceutical, junk/fast food and political ads. They all cause active and KNOWN harm to the populace but we are the penultimate corrupt Western country, so that's just where we are as a society.
