I am going to go ahead and apologize.

I don't normally make these threads, I actually loath them.

But, I just took a look at Defense rankings.

Houston Texans #1 in yards per game and #2 in points per game.

Huh? They were absolutely atrocious last season.

Hired Wade Phillips and moved to a 3-4.

If they can make this massive turn around in one season, why can't we?

We would have to dedicate our entire draft to defense to make the change, but I think its possible.

Again, I am sorry. I just can't help it when I saw the Texans.

Also, how much of this comes from the fact that the Titans are a top rushing team.

Wade knows how to call a 3-4, and I'm not sure McDermmot does. At least well enough to pull a Texans turn around. I'm fine with the 4-3 if we get some playmakers. We need to hit on every draft pick this year. Marty needs to lean on the talent evaluaters and avoid stupid ass trades. This is a HUGE draft for us.

Please do not use stats without context. They are meaningless. You need to take into consideration the efficiency of the offenses these defenses faced in order for those numbers to actually mean anything.(strength of schedule..not last year's but this year's as it unfolded)

They don't mean anything when you just state that. I'm working on trying to get a more accurate measurement on where our both offense and defense ranks. It will take some time.

That's why there is such a HUGE difference between last year and this year. Strength of schedule of offenses and their own offense's performance(yards per point when you put those two together).

    • Aggressive runner, hits the hole fast, and runs angry.  Just a few yards shy of the single game record for the team.  Absolutely phenomenal performance.  If the gameplan hadn't become weirdly pass heavy for the 3rd and first half of the 4th quarters he might have been flirting with 300.
    • I felt that way before the season started, but I'm sorry, he's already proven he isn't that guy, I don't need to learn anything more about him. He threw the ball 30 times today and could only throw for 198 yards, which was his 2nd best yardage game this year, he's just not the guy. Which means this season has already moved onto the 2nd most important thing going into this season after evaluating Bryce, and that's developing our best young players. You don't do that by only throwing 8 of your 30 passes to your best player who is still only a rookie.  Pepper him with targets and help develop him so he's ready to take a huge leap next year when we get a real HC and QB to get him the ball.
    • Every win comes from a non-sustainable source.  As CRA mentioned, Penix absolutely imploding against ATL, and then today, defense finally clicked and looked the best they’ve looked in a long time (and still have up 24 points lol) and Rico ran for 200+ yards.  We’re not going to get that every week, especially against good teams, which neither Miami or ATL are.  Both MIA and ATL are bad teams and Bryce still couldn’t get it together.  The defense (and team) had to overcome 14 points because of his turnovers again.  That was not even an average QB performance.  We are winning in spite of him.
