I believe the OP was pointing out the improvement of the Texans defense. He did not say they are the best.

And there was none. That's what I'm pointing out. Here's your reason for their improvement:

Houston defense has faced the following offenses: Indianapolis(31st), Miami(23rd), Pittsburg(22nd), New Orleans(8th), Oakland(20th), Baltimore(7th), Tennessee(26th), Jacksonville(26th), Cleveland(29th), Tampa Bay(27th)

And here's your proof that they are still junk:

Texan's defense against a good offense:

New Orleans 40-33 Texans 454 yards allowed

Baltimore 29-14 Texans 402 yards allowed

Any more questions? I really wanna knock them all out of the way that way everyone can face the real issue on this team.

PS: BruceBrewski, I explained to you why our defense is ranked as low as it is. Just above. We faced Green Bay, The Saints, Chicago. 3 top 10 offenses. We faced Arizona, Tennessee, Atlanta. All 3 top of the league offenses. We faced Minnesota, an average offense. And only two bad ones: Jaguars and Washington. And just to "help" them in their rankings way we have the 25th worst ranked offense! What else do you wanna know?

Isn't the point of the game to give up as few points as possible no matter who you play?

DUh!

Texans own.

you fail.

Well in that case they are really pooty, because they gave up 40 to New Orleans and we only gave up 30, with help from Rivera.

So that must mean we are the #1 defense in the league.

The saddest part is you guys think I'm coming up with this. If I would have been the first to figure that out I would have been a millionaire by now.

Really just stop. You're making yourself look bad and I hate it when people make themselves look bad. It's pittiful. Now let this thread die because it's one big lie and start one where you talk about how our defense is not as bad as everyone thinks now that you know how to evaluate defenses. Because that is actually true.

Well then why are we even talking about the Texans.

We are fine!

It must be Cam's fault.

No poo.

Here's another important fact: A turnover is statistically worth 3.8 points if it takes place at midfield for an average offense.

Our offense gave Green Bay, one of the top 3 offenses in the league, 4.

Car 36 yard line

Car 20 yard line

Car 49 yard line

GB 32 yard line

An average offense should have gotten 15.2 points off of them if they were all at midfield, but they were not. Our offense made it even easier. One was even at our 20 yard line. That's an average offense. Well Green Bay only got 12 points, only FG's. And we kept them to 30 total. So that means either GB is a below average offense, or we're a better defense than everyone thinks. You figure it out.

The Texans on the other hand gave up 40 points to New Orleans and their offense only turned the ball over 1 time. What about other common teams we have faced vs GB? Well let's see:

New Orleans gave up 42

Chicago gave up 27

Atlanta gave up 25

Minnesota gave up 33

Minnesota gave up 45 the second time

And just for kicks San Diego gave Green Bay 45 points too.

So why can't our "top 5" offense do the same? But yet most of these defenses are ranked much better than ours and they're putting 40 points on them at will with less turnovers. San Diego's apparently a top 10 defense. As well as the Texans who are #1 and they gave up 40 to New Orleans. Do you ever wonder how that's possible if they really were top 10 defenses?

Yet GB only scored 30 on our "terrible" D with 4 turnovers from midfield or better? That's a mystery....

3-4 or 4-3, I am not too concerned about the scheme. It comes down to personnel and play calling.

The upcoming draft neeeeeeeeds to focus on defense. DT and LB now at the top of the list, IMO, with a CB right behind them.

The draft will be interesting, because of Luck, and where our pick will be. Trading for more picks is a valid option, otherwise the best defensive player on the board needs to be picked up.

I haven't started my draft research yet, but its getting close to that time.
