In a shocking development to the ongoing Plaxico Burress saga, the Giants announced just a few moments ago that they have released the troubled receiver, just four months after he shot himself in the thigh at a Manhattan night club.

“I am an optimist, and I believe most situations can be worked out,” said General Manager Jerry Reese. “We hung in there as long as we could in hopes that there could be a resolution to this situation other than the decision we made today to release Plaxico. It wasn’t to be, so now we have to move on. Like everybody else here, we want nothing but the best for Plaxico, and we are appreciative of the contributions he made to this franchise.”

More to come …

So burris is released by the giants so long as it ain't a typo. But what does that mean to the panthers. Really nothing. Panthers would not even touch burris right now even if they had the chance. Burris is facing charges of having a unregistered firearm. And he could face few years in jail if founf guilty. So now what?? Ya'll going to start a rumor bout how panthers need to go after burris now. LOL will not happen.

They must know that he won't be around for the 2009 season at all due to jailtime and or suspension. I would have let him sit there on the roster through the draft to make people wonder about my draft intentions more (provided he didn't have any bonus they wanted to avoid paying).

Vick, Plex, Packman. Ten years ago a NFL player could be caught in a motel room with two hookers and a pound of crack and still play the next week. Those days are over and some of these guys don't realize this. I doubt Vick, Plex or Packman ever play in the NFL. Packman I'm almost sure of...if the Cowboys cut you, you have problems.

Plax is going to be an Eagle or Dolphin.
:banghead:Right now with burris and his legal troubles no one will take a chance on him. Unless all of sudden the DA in NY city decided to drop the whole matter. But I doubt it. The only way burris is lucky to avoid jail time is a plea bargin deal and community service upon that. Adn he will be on probation. But knowing since burris is a star with money. He might buy his way out like most stars do. But vick lol:out:. But even if was to get probation. the chance rogel godell could suspend him for the season aswell. But until burris gets his legal trouble resolved. No team is going to even touch him.:banghead::rant::ack2:

    • If you're looking for a pat on the back it sounds good in theory until you realize they also had the 2023 Panthers as the top draft class.
    • Going into the 2003 and 2015 seasons we were supposed to be the joke of the league each time. In 2003, John Fox was supposed to still be in rebuild mode. We had a guy named Peppers on the defensive line who was supposed to be pretty good. We had Rodney Peete as our starting QB and a line that was a lot of hope and not much experience. Our new running back was a guy the Redskins, errrr Commanders, had jettisoned for being too old. We had a good kicker and writers thought that was needed because there were going to be more field goals than touch downs. Heck, it looked like they were right up until just before halftime of that first game when we had to yank Rodney Peete and put in some Cajun duded whose name couldn't be pronounced. And Steve Smith? He wasn't Smitty yet. Moose Muhammad, well, he was close to being written off as a bust. You know how that turned out. And then in 2015, we had Cam Newton, who was electrifying to watch but hadn't really won anything yet. There was an offensive line in front of him that looked like it was made in a defunct Swiss cheese factory and our big hope on offense was the great Kelvin Benjamin. And then he got taken out for the year with a knee injury in training camp. Ted "Feet of Lightning, Hands of Stone" Ginn became our default go to guy beside our next best hope, yeah, Devin Funchess. Our defense was pretty good, a scrappy bunch with frikkin' awesome linebacker play and a cornerback who had done more than drank the Kool-Aid, but had snorted the powder. He played like a superhero and became sort of a bat-man during the season. By the Super Bowl he had completely lost his freaking mind, though, and managed to talk his way out of a contract with the team next year. No one was expecting us to win the NFCSouth that season, much less almost go undefeated and into the Super Bowl. So, 2026? Who knows? But our best seasons came when no one had a reason to believe in us, except us.
    • it's not so much this personal vendetta against the Carolina Panthers as it is more about Bryce Young never not once been in the same conversation with the top 15 or even top 20 Qbs in the NFL ..just saying
