I decided to write up my own breakdown of the post route throw Cam made against Indy to Steve Smith for 30 yards, mostly in an effort to highlight ways in which his passing ability has been severely understated. I hope you guys find it informative.

This is the first time I've tried something like this, so. . .

And here you are at 2:54 AM commenting on dude for breaking down a play at the best of his ability. I prefer his post over yours.

CAM is regressing

I would disagree: he's simply having to deal with tighter windows and more difficult throws because teams gameplan around covering Steve Smith and taking away his downfield throws (because none of them imagined how deadly he could be throwing deep.)

My entire article illustrates how much he is already adapting to these new challenges, and making high-quality throws to counteract them.

He's not regressing: he's adapting.

Nice work. Does a pretty good job of illustrating just how complex this offense is and how much more we're asking of him than most rookie QB's. It's too bad the major networks don't really go over the x's and o's of football because scenarios such as this illustrate why a QB like Cam is superior to a QB like say... Dalton. Dalton will just throw the ball up for AJ Green to catch, whereas Cam is required to make some pretty difficult throws and make the right read every time.

If a rookie can pass for 200+ yards/game, rush for 50 yards/game, offense produce 20+ pts/game, with 0 turnovers, that results in a W, I'll take it. Those inflated 400+ yard games that diminish the impact of Dwill and Jstew aren't sustainable. No rookie can handle that kind of workload or pressure, too green.

    • I have a hard time imagining us making any changes mid-season no matter how bad it gets. Tepper is impulsive. But a) there's nothing to be gained by making a change 3 weeks into a season, you're already signaling your season is over. Is someone really going to step in at this point and turn things around? Anyone in the league? Or even CFB, because I don't think Bellichick could step in and right this ship. So the best we could hope for, is someone like Wilks to step in, boost morale enough to win a few meaningless games and ruin our chances at a top pick, and then have the wheels fall off again. And b) Tepper has proven that he is capable of learning some lessons. We really haven't heard much out of that clown recently. Certainly not as much as we used to the first few seasons. And by this I mean I think he knows he has a reputation. And no quality coach wants to go and work for the impulsive, meddlesome owner who repeatedly fires coaches midseason. We've already got to be the least attractive landing spots in the NFL with the absolute dearth of talent, conditioning, and playing surface that will keep players healthy. So the best thing to do is at least pretend that he's ready to stay out of the way. So either way, IMO the smart play is you let this play out all season.  Let these suckers go down with the ship, and if a regime change is needed, you wait til the end of the season to make a change.
