Dear Charlotte Bobcats Fans:

Throughout my basketball career, I don't think there has ever been a time when I have been more excited to get a season started. This was a challenging offseason for our franchise and the NBA. There is simply no denying it. A work stoppage during the process of improving the NBA's business model was not something that anyone involved in the game enjoyed. However, the goal was to end up with a system that gives all teams in our league an opportunity to be competitive. I think everyone realizes that this is particularly important for a small market like ours.

As I stated when I purchased the Bobcats a little over a year ago, owning this franchise is my number one priority. I continue to be committed to developing a team that can legitimately compete in the Eastern Conference. My hope is that under this new system we will be able to more quickly reach the goal of providing our fans and the Carolinas with a team they can be proud of.

We have spent a great deal of time and effort over the last year trying to improve every aspect of our organization. We have been able to assemble a young and talented nucleus of players. We maneuvered to add two top ten picks to our team from this past year's draft. We also have a coaching staff in place that did an incredible job of developing our players last season. Most importantly we have achieved this while creating the type of flexibility needed to continue the process of improving our team.

There is a lot to look forward to as we get ready to take the court and we would like nothing more than for you to be a part of it. As a thank you for your support, we have a number of fan appreciation events that will be taking place. It all starts on December 17th when you can get your first look at our team during a free scrimmage at Time Warner Cable Arena. Then at our preseason game on December 19th against the Atlanta Hawks, all kids 14 and under can attend for free. Opening night is always a special game and on December 26th we would like to offer 50% off concessions for everyone in attendance. As another thank you, for our first 3 games in January, every ticket in the upper level will be only $5.

You are an important part of everything we do and I wanted to thank you again for all of your support. I hope you will come out and see your Charlotte Bobcats at Time Warner Cable Arena this season. While you are here, I think you'll see something special developing.

Sincerely,

Michael Jordan

When I was 10, I mailed him a letter with one of his basketball cards in it. My letter professed that I was his biggest fan, that I had bought his jerseys, posters, and pretty much any memorablia that I could get my hands on that had Jordan on it.

I asked in my letter, if he could sign my card, and mail it back to me.

...about 2 months later, I received a response in the mail from his "organization". The letter basically said that Jordan was "too busy" to respond to every fans letter and that he could not sign my card because there was no card in the envelop that I sent him!!! This was total bullshit, whoever reads his mail stole my card. If I ever meet MJ...he will hear about this!!!

Yeah, if I lived in Charlotte I would go to a lot of games. It's hard to drive for over an hour to a basketball game on a weekday after work.

Not sure how the charlatans pass up on the experience. They constantly have deals for cheap tickets.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
