Bobcats Draft Needs

Since the Cats lost tonite they maintain their first round pick from someone out west (i think denver). anyway, what do ya'll think are the bobcats biggest needs? do you think they could fulfill their needs through the draft? if so who, and if not by what other means? Just curious, all the mock drafts don't seem to take "needs" into consideration, at least the mock drafts I've stumbled upon around the internet. IMO, im looking at a scoring guard or a true center. Okafor is considered a smaller center, who's natural position is PF, and we don't have a scorer at the SG position. Raja being a lockdown defender. Any ideas/thoughts?

p.s. I saw some draft boards, on ESPN and others, having us taking Steph Curry, Tyreke Evans, Demar Rozan (sp), Brett Mullins, and even Gerald Henderson.

We need another shut down defender, the defense just wasn't there on a consistent basis this year.

Considering the fact the Bobcats were in the Top 10 in scoring defense, defense might not be the biggest factor. What the Bobcats need is another big man because right now its Okafor, Diaw as the main producers with Diop and Howard coming off the bench. If the Bobcats got another big man that could score down low coming off the bench, it would be huge to take the load off of Diaw and Okafor.

Gonna say it agian, wouldn't Blake Griffen be an instant help, and a franshise player we could build around?

I like college Steph Curry, but I do not think that NBA Steph Curry will turn many heads.

Also, I hope that Alexis has gained some weight and gotten bulked up with the Sean May diet.

Does Felton stay??? That could be a position we need to lock up and consider if he does not stay.

If the same admin was still in place, just think.... next year we could have Tyler Hansbrough! haha

a) we don't need a franchise player.

B) I don't think Griffin will amount to a great NBA player, I see him getting pushed around by bigger guys at the NBA level

c) Griffin is gonna get picked first anyway so it's a moot point

d) We need to be drafting needs at this point and not first available. SG is a more pressing need than another big

i personally would love alexis to fill out and be a big producer and mature into a solid player down low. But i would think sg would be the biggest need. The only problem is that ESPN basketball analysts, like tim legler are calling this draft "the weakest draft in thirty years." Maybe we could find a diamond in the rough....or maybe not.

That's what I was referring to, a big guy down low who can dominate defensively with rebounds and shot blocks and produce in the paint. I think Felton should definitely stay, and he and DJ will only continue to get better. Unfortunately the franchise was set back with the Sam Vincent season but we are back in the right direction. Though if Alexis fills out and produces, then my point is moot. But yeah, like everyone has stated, a SG who could come off the bench and score would be great.

    • This upper my already high opinion of Cam.
    • It's pro wrasslin. It's like trying to predict if roman rayons is going to drop the stone cold scorpion death lock slap chop on ravishing ric hogans under dlo
    • You won't believe this, but neither with the information at hand Nobody wants to believe me, but this thread and my issues with the team have absolutely nothing to do with T-Mac.  Do I wish he had more targets or some TD's already?  Of course, but he's 15th in the league in yards and on pace for 1,200 as a rookie, 2nd in the league in 20+ yard catches, 5th in the league in 1st down catches.   He's on pace to shatter Panthers rookie records and could potentially end up in contention for a Pro Bowl slot depending how the season shakes out. This thread was about our piss poor offensive play calling, as we're never going to be able to properly develop any of our young offensive weapons this year with how that's been going. If we're having the same issues as always, then yea, I'm puling for option 1 for my guy, because what really matters isn't changing. But if you tell me we had a great pass/run mix, keeping the defense off balance, getting chunk yards on a consistent basis, XL, Horn, Coker, Sanders, Evans, etc, make plays that show they're improving. Then yes, I'll take option B with T-Mac taking a backseat when that other stuff happens, because it's what is best for the future of this franchise.  This season isn't just about T-Mac, it's about improving ALL of our young weapons, but that won't happen with the way Canales has been calling games (and with how Bryce has played). And again, I'm not going to try and dig out months old posts, but I said this all offseason.  That actual standings wins and loses don't matter to me this year because I never believed we could be contenders.  Showing growth and improvement from the front office, to the coaches, to the players, was most important.
