Filmed during a six-month deployment to the Persian Gulf in support of ground troops, this in-depth documentary takes an insider's tour of the U.S.S. Nimitz, one of America's most storied aircraft carriers

Its a very well made documentary to watch for all you Navy vets out there. One thing i wish they did though was show more of the enlisted but overall it was a good watch.

was on pbs a few years ago - couldnt get over the changes - women aboard- all the drama and politically correct bs and pregnancies and instant communications with family back home - and distractions from the job - absolutely nothing like the navy I served in. you cant tell me its a better service today.

I got out right as the instant communication thing started. I have to admit I liked it a lot better than waiting for mail call or standing in line to use a payphone as soon as we hit port somewhere.

I did serve with some women on the Kearsarge, but they were all officers. Probably a different situtation with enlisted women on board.
