Redskins 'Sell Their Soul' for RGIII

"Two first rounders... to swap first round picks" if you're worried about semantics.

I do not think RG3 will be in the slightest comparable to Newton. He is a downgrade. Cam can change the position by running the ball passing.

Take Eli Manning for example. If the Giants were told he would give them two rings they would trade 4 first round picks for him, I would. It takes more than one year to build a championship team and it starts with a big name QB. Luckily we have :cam: who can lead the Panthers to one someday.

All I'm saying is that the Panthers are lucky to have Cam and I would give away a draft class for Cam if that was necessary to get him. He brings something to the table four guys alone cannot.

I didn't like the idea of drafting Cam in the least when it became obvious we were going to do it. Let's face it, there is no way that

daddy' was shopping 'Jr' around to everyone 1) without Jr having any idea, and 2) finally settling on the 1 school who supposedly refused to offer any money. Sorry, don't buy it. That being said, I finally accepted the fact that Cam wasn't doing what a LOT of college players have been doing and are doing for quite a while. Take Clemson's Tight End, for example. He was asked if he planned to leave Clemson for the draft after their humiliating Bowl loss. he told the reporter there was no reason for him to leave - he had access to more resources AND MORE MONEY than he could possibly need there at Clemson and planned to return next fall. All that being said...

I was also worried about the 1st words coming out of Newton's mouth regarding the NFL was that he wanted to be an 'icon'...not help the team win....win a championship, etc...he wanted to be an 'icon'. I was VERY pleasantly surprised and glad to see his work ethic, his attitude, and the way he has performed. As I said, Carolina got him for NOTHING....good for us. We didn't have to 'sell our soul' for this #1 ranked QB, who is still a statistical gamble but who shows great promise. I am glad, however, that we have Sam as our QB!

Washington is taking a big gamble by trading so much to get RGIII. They pretty much have to because they 'blow'. It will take them, and Carolina with Cam, to build into a championship calibre team. I know Carolina can do it and without having to have 'bet the farm'. If we don't get there, it will have cost us far less than it will have the Redskins if they fall flat with RGIII.

What does Cam have to do with this to you? Cam Newton is nothing like RG3 outside of being athletic.

You were concerned about Cam because of off the field issues? Ok, RG3 has none. Totally the opposite in fact...

Luck is being hyped... but so is RG3. Both are likely to be great pros.

If you think this guy is the future of your franchise, he may be worth 2 first rounders.

    • Right, so basically what I said in my first post about this last night. Tepper needs to use that big wallet of his in one of the few ways it can be used in the NFL given the cap.   Give Scourton a bigger signing bonus but not a fully guaranteed deal. Everyone wins in that scenario as if Scourton is smart and hires good money people, he'll take that bigger signing bonus and use it to make more money in the end over the next 4 years than if he just had his fully guaranteed deal and a smaller signing bonus.
    • It is all confusing and layered. SB is the cash you get very soon within weeks or in simple terms, its what you get to sign the paper work. Players and agents can agree on contract but what to "wait" to sign......teams don't like that cause you can "Carlos Boozer" yourself. In order to get that ink dry, while keeping the contract the same, portion it as a bonus to "sign" and get the funds with ________ .   * But Ive seen worded contracts that split the SB or a 20% to a later date. The beans counters can fill in the details about why certain dates are better and save the team money.. Theres tricks to the trade and accounting is full of them.    Ugh another big layer, is SB can be used to manipulate cap and players. Ill try to give a example that makes enough sense. Believe it or not having a owner like Tepper is a cheat code for this. He has cash in hand, where as Mark Davis had problem making pay roll and had to move the team to Vegas....... Tepper can give you 100,000,000 SB right now and the team can spread out the cap hit. Another owner doesn't have or want to give the player 100,000,000 in cash, but offered the same guaranteed contract in roster bonuses fully guaranteed over the next few years........ Which one do you want??? Everyone wants the money now, not before another inflation waves hits in 2 years. So it does 'pay" to have a owner like tepper that's able to have real cash on hand, while it also works GREAT for cap help. Heres a good video, if you can stand coked up pat and mask look-a-like AJ
