As a Panther fan in Houston:

Winston is not a very good pass blocker. Good run blocker, but a liability in pass protection. Can't handle speed rushers and a false start waiting to happen. Basically the Texan's version of Todd Steussie.

There is a group of Texan fans in my office that wanted him gone last year.

Duane Brown OTOH is an awesome LT. (and I think his contract is up next year. Texans will need the cap room to sign him.)

BUT he does fit the Mr.Scot's Big Ugly Sig perfectly.

This would be nice, but we can't afford him and Otah is good enough that we need to see what he can do in this final year of his rookie contract.

Otah isn't costing the Panthers much so by cutting him, you take a cap hit and still have to pay another player. Doing moves like this will kill you when trying to fill out a roster. Now if during preseason it is clear Otah isn't going to be effective, it may be necessary but you don't do that in the offseason.

I think we need to put otah on IR and give his scoped knee 3 years to heal. 6 weeks < 3 years. :)
