Playoff Clinch Scenarios - Week 15

rainwater

Screw clinching, I want the Giants to lose. Yeah, it sounds stupid, but I do think we can get that homefield advantage.

Not stupid. Stupid is wanting the Giants and Bucs to win, and wanting a dangerous Saints game to actually matter.

Clinching a playoff birth would be nice, but we want home field because ultimately we want the only thing that really matters, the Lombardi Trophy. Having home field increases the chances TREMENDOUSLY of reaching the real goal, and is worth putting off clinching a playoff birth for another week.

7-0 at home, man. It's not by accident.

Thing is that we can clinch homefield advantage even if the Giants win.

A Dallas loss and Denver win at least clinches a playoff spot...first step.

We can then take care of the Giants next week for homefield advantage...second step.

Bucs are going down to Atlanta, so they will both be 2 games back.

It doesn't really matter if the giants win this weekend or not. If we lose to them they will hold the tie breaker at an even record. We still have to beat them unless they lose 2 out of the next 3.

If we lose this weekend the giants need to lose as well however.

If the Giants win this weekend, even if we beat them next weekend we will NOT clinch home field. We would also have to beat the Saints OR have the Giants lose to the Vikings. Sooo...Go Cowboys, until the Ravens and/or Eagles put you out of your misery after that.

Why would people not want a game to matter? I expect the last game or the season to mean something, and it will.

And I'll be there to see it! lol

By that analogy, then why even try and win every game then? Let's make it as suspenseful as possible. Maybe that's why we tanked our 3 losses this year. Let's not even try to put a team away and let them hang around until 2 minutes left in the game, as much drama as possible.

GET FREAKIN REAL! We want the Lombardi here and THAT'S all that matters, not your satisfaction at the Saints game. If we do have to win it, then be loud, but hopefully we do not, so try to enjoy the game anyway.

Why want to be forced to win a tough, dangerous game in the Superdome AFTER beating the Packers, Bucs, Broncos, and Giants? You've got to be kidding me dude. :out: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Here is the best of scenarios:

1. New Orleans loses....love to have the Taints eliminated once again.....CHECK

2. Atlanta beats TB....both are 2 games back and Carolina clinches at least a WC Spot

3. Dallas beats NY Giants....both us and Giants have 3 losses

4. We beat NY Giants next week...we lock up the #1 seed

If this plays out, Week 17 against the Saints is an absolutely meaningless game. Even if we lose and both the Giants and TB win in Week 17, we still win division by 1 game....and Carolina and NY both end up 12-4 with Carolina owning the tiebreaker.
