Worst Free Agent Loss In Panthers History.

Witherspoon had me pissed, he earned a nice contract.

Peppers had me REAL pissed, I really didn't care if he wasn't on the team anymore. I just wanted the Panthers to trade him and get SOMETHING for him instead we got a measly 3rd round compensation pick, for one of the best pass rushers in NFL history. THAT PISSES ME OFF.

Moose had me confused on why the hell he would go to Chicago with horrible QB.

moose hurt us worse than witherspoon. try again

we didn't have a 1000 yard runner after losing griffith until steven davis

even then, losing moose didn't have as big of an impact as losing griffith

I think the thing with Peppers isn't just post-Panthers production, but he was a born and raised Carolina native, #2 overall pick, and they tried repeatedly to make him the king of the franchise, and he just left everything in a big trail of fug you.

peppers ain't done poo since he left

moose didn't do poo after he left

witherspoon didn't do poo either

griffith won two superbowls and paved the way for superbowl mvp terrell davis

You should change the name of this thread to "let me tell you why HG is the worst FA loss in Panthers history and anything other than that is stupid and doesn't matter." lol

oh yeah, i was talking about actually setting the franchise back. i'm glad we're not paying peppers 20 million a season. we may not have replaced him, but he was not worth what he was asking for.

we haven't replaced peppers, we've replaced moose with smitty, we've replaced witherspoon with beason

it took us a very long time to recover from losing griffith

we had initial falloff from griffith and peppers, but guys came in pretty quickly and started producing. you have to look at the affect those guys had on our team, not their later success with other teams, as tons of variables go into success/failure on different squads.

looking at the effects of their voids on our team though? moose, hands down. ever since he left for chicago we have struggled to find a number two receiver to compliment steve smith. moose was good when he came back in 2008 but he still wasn't a prime number two. hell we still don't have one.

    • I think he's gone, and rightfully so, if he turns in another losing record. The "talented roster," regardless of how true or not, is a double-edged sword. If the roster is so much improved now from 202X then why are you still producing losing seasons? On one hand, maybe that's what needs to happen. Have the GM hire the new coach, and then have the new coach pick his guy to run his system. That is typically how it works in the NFL. Not the forced inheritance deal we have had in place.
    • Hinging on Brooks to be our spark...be good if it happens... but not holding my breath....RB next draft. Morgan gambled...it would be a 2 year payoff if thing happened.
    • Only way Canales is fired is if we are attrocious everywhere....  defense /special teams and offense..  There are enough "questions" on if BY9 is the guy that ownership wouldn't fire the coach for "just" mid qb play.  Especially with as talented a roster that has played "well enough" to win some tough football games and hang in there against the top tier of the NFL ...(mostly).   Now total team suckage..yeah .. but I don't see that happening.
