Great draft

I agree Steve.. I feel great about this draft. Im amazed at how many people are complaining on this board. The FO knows alot more than we all do.

I don't think the OP's name is actually Steve. I could be wrong though.

I am probably wrong but I still think it would be a good move to start Johnson at LDE and move Brayton in at DT. Then move Lewis back to rotation role behind Kemo. I like Brayton and he seems to fit the mold of the type DT Meeks used in Indy.

Now that's an intriguing idea. Didn't Brayton move in as a DL a few times when Johnson was at end, or was it the other way around?

I laugh at all the knee jerk claims that we gave up too much to get Brown. It's not even remotely possible to make that determination right now.

Basically, the quality of this draft mostly depends on how Everette Brown plays though...if he is only average or below average, we gave up too much...if he turns out to be the best pass rusher in this draft, he's more than worth what the Panthers gave up, because teams normally use top 5 picks to get the best pass rushers.

the draft was OK.

what did you expect. Having or not having a first round pick had nothing to do with it. They flew by the seat of their pants becasue they had too many variables to cover the last two days and the last month leading up to those days.

All things considered, they did alright.

It's not about the draft or the FA's or the coaching/philosophy changes of an off season anyway. It's about the overall team development from one year to the next. If a team can build on its positives and eliminate its negatives. You cannot do it all in draft alone or in FA alone. You cannot change a coach and eliminate all the problems. It's a combination of intelligent decisions. Some teams are good at it some teams aren't. The Panthers are hot and cold from year to year and this year has been fairly frigid so far.

maybe they will learn thier lesson and not deal with things so emotionally in the future. Each decison has potentially drastic ramifications. Each off season is critical to the growth of a franchise..especially young ones like in Charlotte.

Maybe one day we will be lucky enough to have some experienced football people in control.

Until then, Go Panthers! Lots of work to do between now and September.

ppl are complaining because next yrs draft is loaded and we do not have a 1st Rounder....again.

If Brown isn't the next Freeney, this will be a horrible draft.

EXACTLY. People keep saying our FO surely knows more than us so we should continue to blindly trust them. That blind trust is why this FO and ownership group has 0 pressure to bring the big one to Carolina. The front office still hasnt shown us they can put up back to back winning seasons or put some trophies in the case. When they do, I will blindly trust them.

lol SKYZ FALLIN

Sky isnt falling, but fan morale is as low as its been since 01 and this franchise is taking steps backward. Reality will hit hard this upcoming season. If everything is as A OK as the the local press will portray and the homers proclaim we should have no problem putting up a winning season and taking the NFC South once again.

Is that based on anything other than complete bs?

Fans have double trouble to be excited about, being 8-0 during the regular season at home.. and fan morale is as low as it has been since 01?

Wow. Just Wow.

As a Panthers fan, I'm excited as I've ever been, despite last year's playoff performance. We've still go a lot to look forward to and one of the most complete team's in the league.

Our defense was exposed during the latter half of the season, but we've picked up new players and coaches in hopes of shoring it up.

I can't wait until next season. Any of you fans with low morale want to sell me some tickets? :o

It IS just you, you're the only one who thinks it's as low as '01. I understand people being down about jake's playoff game. I understand people not being happy about the Julius Peppers situation.. but Fan Morale is down to the point where we lost 15 straight? Right... It's DEFINITELY just you.

    • What you are saying isn't always true and I'll give you several examples to demonstrate this. 1) The best player on the board at the end of in round 1 by all consensus is RB (top 15 player in draft who slips b/c of the devaluation of the RB position). Your team is in desperate need of a LT because the current one is getting your QB killed. You already have a serviceable RB in place. The LT has a 2nd round grade and you have the first pick on day 2 of the draft Who do you choose? 2) Your run defense was abysmal the previous season. A DT in round 2 does not provide much in terms of pass rush, but most reports have him rated as the best pure run stuffing DT in the draft. The two highest rated players on your board at the time are a TE and tweener at OLB/DE who slipped into round 2 after a run on WR's. Who do you choose? 3) Your pass rush rush is solid across the board. You even have guy coming off of the bench to provide production. Your secondary in below average. No Safety on the roster is a difference maker and as a unit the squad doesn't have an INT. The highest rated player on the board is a DE. The 5th highest rated player on the board is a an intelligent ball hawking Safety. Which player would make the team immediately better?  1) I think the BPA logic applies when your team is solid across the board and you can afford to draft for depth 2) I think it also applies when your team stinks and any solid player will be an immediate upgrade over what you already have. I agree that you should NEVER reach for a player when you are need at a position like we did for Bryce Young. But I also think if there's is a player on the board that will fill a glaring weakness you need to take him even if a player with a higher over all ranking is available at another position (which isn't a need)
    • Bryce Young excels at dividing Panthers fans. That seems to be what he's best at.
    • 184 yards game, 61% completion 11 tds 5ints    thats ranks :check notes:  25th in the nfl
