I Think Barnidge Should Get A Chance...

Maybe it's just my timing. But every TC I see Barnidge making big plays. I keep saying if he gets a chance with a decent QB it could pay dividends. I guess I'm in the minority but I think we should not bring Shockey back and give Barndige a chance. I know he got hurt last year so that's a moot point but he seems to imo to have much bigger game breaking potential than the current Jeremy Shockey. I do think Shockey is a better TE but not by that much anymore. Anyone else agree?

I don't think he's incapable. I just don't think there's reason to believe other wise.

Of course he's going to get a chance. What makes you think otherwise?

Yep...have to deliver it on the field. He has not shown this in the past, but that is probably due to the scheme that Fox ran with the TE. He definitely has the size, speed, and athleticism to be a real weapon. Also, he did flash that in TC last year.....so I am anxious to see what he can do.

He is getting one...training camp hasn't even started. Hes under contract, whats the problem?

I think if Shockey is brought back that it would not be a fair chance so to speak. Shockey is a veteran, has name recognition and probably will make 3-5 times as much as Barnidge. I know coaches say best player on the field etc.etc but other factors have to be taken into consideration.

I disagree. Yes they want Shockey back, but barnidge is MUCH younger and will have the opportunity to compete for a spot on this team this season and beyond. I firmly believe that.

If Shockey is brought back, why would we be thinking about Barnidge?

I agree, I got a little slack from a few huddlers when I said that I thought Barnidge was just as good as Shockey, as far as his pass catching ability, without the experience and nastiness.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
