How Out Of Line Am I By Suggesting That The Fix Is In On The #1 Pick?

I'm not usually a tin foil type of guy, and I'm not outright saying "The fix is in!!!" But for some reason, I have this erie feeling that the fix is in for New Orleans to win the lottery. Its not league-owned anymore, but with a big-named owner, and so much invested interest in the team by Stern...idk why, but I feel some type of what about this.

So how stupid/off base am I?

I'd be willing to bet a lot of something that we will not get the #1. I'm gonna say we get the #3 and settle on some scrub.

there aren't going to be a lot of scrubs in the top 15 picks this year. This draft is loaded w/ excellent prospects. One of the best drafts in the past ten years on paper, at least.

Davis is the cream of the crop though and a true phenom. The team that wins the lottery is going to be very, very fortunate.

I've never liked the lottery system. The worst team should be given the number 1 pick since they need the pick and the point of the draft is to strengthen the weaker teams. Even without a lottery system superior teams would be able to gain more from the draft by maneuvering for different picks and by scouting.

What is the point of the lottery? Is it to discourage teams from intentionally losing? The Orlando Magic did just that to acquire Dwight Howard and the Bobcats couldn't win even if they tried most nights.

The only way I'll be surprised on lottery night is if the Bobcats pick first.

It'd make more sense if there wasn't owner yet and then they won the lottery to sweeten the deal for potential investors.

How do we know that wasn't part of the deal??

(again im stiring the pot here)

Ha that would be crazy if that's actually the case. But I can't see that.

Not saying we'll get the #1 pick but I wouldn't say I believe the lottery is rigged. Maybe a bit skeptical but if I had to put my money on it I would say it's not.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
