If we have no glaring needs next year I see no problem taking a QB in the first roud. Now if we where the Lions no way in hell would I want one. But if you can grab one and groom him right and not throw him in the game the first he might be a great one.

i agree. i don't like the risk involved with picking up a QB in the first but they have a much higher rate of success than picking one up in the 2nd and 3rd round and with the success that our scouting department is having, i wouldn't mind us getting one even then. there are great choices for us and i would like us to make that move...if there are no other glaring needs.

we will get a 1st round pick next year one way or the other if we really want someone then. hurney can make it happen....say what you want to about this team being conservative. on draft day it is anything but that.

That'd be the only situation where I could imagine it, and it's iffy whether that happens.

Even if that happened though, he'd be riding the bench for his first few years. Anybody wanting a high rookie pick to come in and start from day one under Fox is dreaming.

i agree with this. that is pretty much the reason that jake got extended like he did.

i'm still not sold off the idea that moore or even mccown could be the next QB but i just want the best possible QB to get the job. if there is someone better, i want us to make the move to get him and let him sit back and learn. i don't care who it is.

u dont think we could have had someone a little bit less expensive fill stews shoes tho? think about it. Both Williams and stew will be commanding huge salaries in the future at the same position.

Yeah, right about the time we HAVE to get a QB. Maybe trade ammo?

      I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

      Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
