Um, when did running 40 yards straight line with no pads mean anything?

The dude has fast GAME speed, with pads on, actually playing football. He reaches almost full acceleration after 2 or 3 steps, which is ideal when talking about LBs.

How about studying a book about football or something instead of trying to correct someone when you dont know what you are talking about.

I agree with Chris999

and i believe I heard he had the most tackles in NCAA Div 1 history... Could have miss heard it though.

Meh, it's. Waste of time defending this pick. Dud will be a BEAST

Many will eat crow

I could use the cones and shuttle if you would like... its not straight line lmao

Bottom line is Kuechly doesnt possess elite or very good speed.

He has nice speed for a LB, it just isnt elite / all world.

In comparison to skill position players I wholeheartedly agree with you that he doesn't compare to them speed wise. However, for a linebacker I believe, and will continue to believe that he is tremendously athletic. Look at Von Miller's combine numbers from last year and you will see the two are somewhat comparable.

And Just for arguments sake, I want to know what you think of Cam Newton as an athlete. Not only is Luke Kuechly faster, but he also posted higher scores in the vertical jump and 20 yard shuffle...

4.59 speed was the second faster among all linebackers and is in line with most tight ends in the league which is who he will be matches up against. His 3 cone and 10 and 20 yards splits were again in the top 3 of all linebackers which given his production makes him the best by far. He may not be fast for a punt returner or WR but rarely will be matched up on them.

<p>

umm when did 4.58 become VERY fast?!?!

it isnt bad but it certainly isnt elite or very fast.

4.4 - is elite speed

4.50 - is nice / very fast

4.6 - is ok speed in a LB (4.58 is almost 4.6...)

The margin of error on combine times is .24

Not .024

Point two four.

They might has well not even bother with the 40-yard dash if they're going to hand-time the start.

Luke, no Luck! Great to see that the Panthers realize that their Offense is SOLID. When I think back on the last draft, I see the winners were the Panthers and their fans with the aquisition of Cam-perman! The big loser, Andrew (un) Luck (y). Got to spend his career in Indiana instead of the beautiful Carolinas! Dumby! Our future is so bright. Now lets get this season started.

..being a step slower, with some slightly shorter arms, and a little on the smallish side is exactly what has made Luke Kuechly the instinctive and cerebral tackling cyborg that he is. Some just have to work a little harder and to me that makes them better.

For a site that was so high on things like heart, will, motor, and effort, I am shocked this kid is not already been anointed savior of the defense.

getting a bit ridiculous now. the guy provided stats showing luke is every bit the athletes willis is, outside of actual physical side. just give it up. this was a good pick.
