Might be early for a thread on this but the USA will be without LaMarcus Aldridge, Lamar Odom, Dwight Howard, Chauncey Billups and Derrick Rose. Colangelo said that the USA would not be adding players but that was before Rose's injury.

The team clearly needs more big men and Bynum is obviously the best one available, but I'm not sure he will want to play. Coming in to the team so late in the process he may end up with a smaller role than he would like.

If you cant get Bynum, I would have 2 guys in mind to add- Deandre Jordan, a well-liked guy around the NBA who can back up Chandler in case he get in foul trouble or hurt, and Ryan Anderson because he is tall an can shoot threes all day. He just seems like a Euro guy anyways, and he can be the USA team's Steve Novak

Bynum wasn't on the team initially, iirc. He was recently asked to join the team and declined.

I really don't think a lot of the players should participate, with the shorten compact season, playoffs until the summer for some it is just too much on the body. This is not a normal year, and I think the players need time to rest after this season.

I think it depends on the player and their own personal goals. Many NBA players have little to no shot at an NBA title in their current situations. Andre Iguodola, Kevin Love, Rudy Gay, Carmelo Anthony, Derron Williams, Chris Paul, etc. aren't going to be winning an NBA title anytime soon, imo. Those players have more incentive to go play as they have a much better chance at a gold medal.

I think the Heat players might bail out if they lose after another long playoff run.

US adds Davis, Harden to Olympic pool

The U.S. has added college player of the year Anthony Davis and Oklahoma City's James Harden to its pool of finalists for its Olympic men's basketball roster. After losing Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose to their injury list, the Americans are back to 18 healthy players in the pool, allowing for a 12-man roster and six alternates.

Davis led Kentucky to the NCAA championship, winning the Most Outstanding Player award at the Final Four, and is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft. Harden, a guard, is one of the NBA's top sixth men.

The final roster has to be selected by June 18.

The remaining healthy finalists are: Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, Tyson Chandler, Kevin Love, Andre Iguodala, Rudy Gay, Eric Gordon and Lamar Odom - though his status is uncertain after his poor season that resulted in the Dallas Mavericks deactivating him.

Good adds, I'd like to see them both make the team

Thats the team I would take. Paul-Kobe-Durant-Lebron-Chandler would start, Deron-Melo-Love would be the first guys off the bench. Iggy and Anthony Davis would be situational defenders, Harden is there in case you need some more shooting, and Blake Griffin can play garbage time to make some awesome highlights

I think the team is going to struggle. France has Tony Parker, Diaw, Batum, etc. The FIBA rules favor their game. The USA has overwhelmed its opponents with physical ability in the past two championships. Without Wade, Howard, Bosh, Rose, etc. they're going to have to be the better team in the half court in some games.

They're certainly still the favorites but there is cause to be worried.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
