Cam Newton: One Of Nfl.com's Top 10 Players Under 25 Years Old

Recommended Posts

QB Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (Age: 23)

Do you remember when everyone was concerned about Cam Newton's play calls being too simple at Auburn? I'm pretty sure that didn't end up being much of a problem. All he did in his rookie season was throw for more than 4,000 yards and combine for 35 TDs. He proved that he was capable of staying in the pocket and making plays with his arm. He throws a beautiful deep ball and helped revitalize the career of Steve Smith. He's a very dangerous runner when he decides to leave the pocket, and he's built to take the extra pounding that results from it. He is capable of posting video game-like numbers. I wouldn't be shocked if he put together 30 passing TDs and 20 rushing TDs in the same season. How crazy would that be?

The list includes: NaVorro Bowman, A.J. Green, Rob Gronkowski, LeSean McCoy, Von Miller, Jason Pierre-Paul, Maurkice Pouncey, Aldon Smith, and Matt Stafford.

Players that just missed out include: Hakeem Nicks, Geno Atkins, Earl Thomas, Patrick Peterson, Julio Jones, Andy Dalton, Ryan Kerrigan, Rashard Mendenhall, Joe Haden, and Dez Bryant.

Mendenhall is good when healthy. No need to laugh there.

The other three you mentioned are also good, just young, as the title suggests.

False.

Mendenhall is going to miss a good chunk of this season and I heard (FWIW) his Steeler days are done.

Peterson is only good as a KR/PR

Dalton is whatever.

Julio Jones only has huge games against the Panthers.

Mendenhall was good then lol the rest of the guys are just young dudes. Besides neither of them made the list... they got honorable mention lol.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
