2011 was my last year as a Panther/NFL player

Mare is going to redeem himself and have a good year. He won't be cut.

Too early to tell who is on the bubble. This will be a great thread in August. Until then who knows.

How can he redeem himself when he has been below average just about his entire career? It's not like he's going to suddenly be good.

Ehhh... some of those games were a combination of him and the zebras. Still, I've never been one to blame kickers. If a handful more offensive and defensive plays are executed better, then the kick probably will have no effect on the outcome of the game.

We know Mare isn't clutch, so we have got to make sure we don't put him in clutch situations.

Kickers are players too. They get paid for doing just one thing. Kick a ball in between the uprights. If that player can't perform his duty, he should face the consequences. Depending on others to cover another player's ass shouldn't be the way to go.

Yep fail logic right der

Tell me how an almost 40 year old below average kicker who has been cut by multiple teams is going to suddenly redeem himself and be good? If you want to talk about logic, P55 tells us it's too early to tell what will happen to players but in the same post tells us Mare won't be cut.

Actually his career accuracy % is about the same as Kasay's. Both hit about 81% of their kicks. Where he falls down is beyond 50 yards where he is a career 19 of 43. Kasay by comparison is 41 out of 79 from beyond 50. But in all fairness in 2008 to 2010 with Seattle Mare hit on 88% of all field goals and 100% of his PATs.

Like usual you have a strong opinion with little facts to back it up. In 2008-2010 with Seattle he was very good hitting on 88% of his field goals and 100% of his PATs. He had a down year in 2011, it happens. With competition this year he will fine.

As for the apparent discrepancy between being too early to tell who the bubble players will be and that Mare won't be cut, it is again your lack of understanding about business factors that causes the conflict in your mind when there really isn't one to the smart poster. Mare is in the middle of his 4 year contract and would cost us millions in dead cap space to let go. Bubble players who we are talking about don't have big guaranteed money or multi-year contracts making it difficult to let them go. Armani by comparison has a 177,000 signing bonus which will cost us 354,000 (2012 and 2013) in dead cap space if we let him go versus Mare's 3 million if we release him.

If you are going to call me out at least try to bring a weapon to this battle of wits.
