Is Hoover planing to retire....

I am finding really interesting that Panthers invested a 4 round pick on a FB, it is about time but I think they are not thinking to slip him practice squad.

I don't think they can slip new FB (Fiammeta) or Goodson to practice squad, 4th picks are little bit too dangerous for that...

So what I am asking to myself is Hoover plaining to retire during the training camp or before, like Minter....

If this is not the cas,e I don't know how we can keep Fiametta and Goodson, may be Dante Rosario's problem is serious then we know but to cut him or place in IR would be sad also...

Goodson could wind up with a "mysterious injury" and get stashed on IR. I don't think he would stick on the PS, someone would ****** him I bet. Fiammetta would be the Goings replacement guy this year (as I and others have proposed), hence no reason for Hoov to go anywhere.

i hate to say it, but hoooooooov could be cut this year....

just the business of the nfl.

that would put; williams/stewart/goodson (rb's) fiammeta/lee (fb's)

Yeah, doubtful Hoov will have the choice to retire, rather cut. Players like Hoov and Jason Kyle have a large cap number due to tenure in the NFL. Another reason their should be a rookie cap and more money for the Vets.

Ehhh....Hoov dropped a few key passes, true. But he caught some as well. That's not that big a deal to me when I look at his overall value. The guy is a HOSS blocker, and when you have only one TE who can block decently (King) you need that hoss in the run game. When possible, and performance warrants it it's always nice to have the old guard and new guard overlap for a year while the new guard is brought up to speed.

ohh i agree! but considering the talent on the team we dont have "extra space" just for players to learn under vet's without expecting them to contribute...

agreed 100%

we can't afford to be without hoov at least this coming year. he is far too valuable as a blocker.

if you read some of what has been going on at minicamp and comparing hoov to PTF, hoov has a lot to show the new guy and i really want him to go next year under hoov's wing.

when hoover retires it is going to be a sad day. fortunately i don't see it happening this year, next year? it could happen but he has a lot more he could do. no way is he going to be cut, though. that would be monumentally dumb.

No, I talked to Brad for about 5 minutes yesterday after Mini camp and he says he has 2-3 good years left in him. He likes the addition of Fiametta and hopes they have a chance to be on the field together some.

thanks for that. i thkn he has that much in him as well.

the idea of the two of them on the field at the same time blocking for williams/stewart?:eek:

Good to hear JOAT, thanks! I know he usually evaluates year to year from what he has been quoted as saying before. I don't think I have ever heard him say he had 2-3 years left in him recently. Imagine the Philly formation with him and Fiammetta blocking for Williams and Stewart!??!??! YUM!

I could see them using both as a big back set on goalline and 3rd and shorts. If you ran a jumbo package you could use both FB's and Stewart.

I had some observations from yesterday...but it doesn't look like they posted...I did it from my Iphone so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
