Recommended Posts

Unrestricted free agent Michael Beasley has been receiving interest from a number of teams including the Charlotte Bobcats, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons, according to sources close to the situation. All of these teams have been in contact with Beasley’s camp and expressed interest in acquiring the forward either through free agency or a sign-and-trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Are we trying to put a potential playoff team together?

Walker - Augustin

Henderson - Gordon

MKG - Williams/Taylor

Beasley - Jamison

Biyombo - Mullens

Well..probably not a playoff team but doesnt seem like thats a very good young NBA roster.

No stop letting your mind wonder to those expectations.

Would like it, but where's the Center?

I do believe that Biyombo could become a real center, but IMO i'd rather tank it again next year and get a play at a Noel or Zeller. Build it young with talents like how Cho been preaching.

2013

PG: Kemba

SG: Gordon/Hendo

SF: MKG/Taylor

PF: Bismack/Jaminson

C: Zeller/Mullens

It looks like Dunlap really wants to play Biyombo at center for some reason.

So if that's the case, we might as well get the best power forwards we can.

He's a tweener and if you sign Jamirson you got 2 soft PF/SF and a 6'9 starting 5. So again getting dominated on the boards will be a nightly thing.

I really hope Dunlap isn't a dumbass and understands 2nd chance points can hurt a lot and having a post game is needed on this team.

I feel that Dunlaps idea of Biyombo at the five might be biyombo's ability to run the floor yet hang defensively with centers. He will beat them up and down the floor all night which fits perfectly with what Dunlap says he wants to do. just a though

Running up and down the court doesn't help us on the boards or him on the offensive end when he has to post up longer players.

I agree, but we aren't the coaches; so what are you going to do... you know?

If it was up to me, I would have Bismack Biyombo playing power forward and sign one of Hickson, Jamison, or Beasley to round out the power forward position, then sign a big center like Chris Kaman, Spencer Hawes, JaVale McGee, or Brook Lopez.

However, it seems like Dunlap want's to play Biyombo at the five, and sign two of the three power forwards mentioned above to round out the power forward position.

I personally don't like the way this is going right now, but it is nice that we are actually checking up on some guys.

The reason id sign Beasley is trade value. Get a bunch of good players together and you have the ammunition to acquire a big time player. Thats how we are going to get a star here is either drafting one and developing(MKG possibly) or trading for one and convincing him we are serious about being contenders in a year or two.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
