He was actually decent in coverage but played in a very undisciplined manner, both at LB and on special teams.

He is one of those guys that never achieve their potential, not because of physical limitations, but for what's between his ears.

Decent in coverage, is an overstatement.

There was an article on how good of a tackler Williams was but it also pointed out that he was very suspect in coverage.

He would arrive late at the catch but he could separate the man from the ball.

I just remember looking at the box score of our preseason games this past year and always seeing this guy leading our team in tackles by a pretty big margin. Then I remember looking at Madden and seeing him at like a 47 OVR with like 50-something tackling...I was pretty upset about that lol.

Madden has no idea who is good and who is bad. They make video games, not scout talent.

As far as his coverage ability, I am not going by what some article says, rather by what I saw watching the games.

For example, he broke up the pass that ended the game vs the Jags, and he had another critical pass defense, although I don't remember which game it was. Compared to our other backup LB's, that's notable.

On the other hand, he was guilty of some bad penalties. Personally, I'm not surprised at all (or upset) that he's gone.

You must see a lot of good in people. because I saw a less than average pass coverage linebacker. Thomas Williams couldn't make the active roster this year anyway.
