Ok...Some PS3 Questions

So, I think I'm finally going to get a console for the first time since N64 and was looking at pre-owned stuff at gamestop. The guy was telling me if I'm going PS3 (which is basically for BlueRay, Netflix, Skate, & Fifa) I should at least get one of the larger hard drives regardless because with a PS3 they can't be replaced.

So, if I'm only really going to have 2-4 games on the thing and primarily use it for entertainment, what is the ideal HD size to get? Right now, I'm thinking 120 but I honestly have no fuggin clue.

I'm sold on getting PS though over XBOX though unless you want to convince me otherwise

Well first of all, the guy was just wrong (gamestop hires some interesting people that constantly give wrong information)

And if you are looking just to keep media on, the bigger the better. So if you follow that video, you can start small and upgrade to what you want.

I got a 120 and it does me just fine. I still need to find a way to better transfer the movies and music from my laptop to it, but it does me well and I had it for a few years now.

And he told you that so you'll spend more money on a PS3.

good to know...so would a 20 or 60gb be fine for me? I found a 20 that can play PS2 games for 199.00 versus a 250gb for 220.00

A 20GB is going to fill up pretty fast and would probably need to be upgraded. When you look at file sizes, a full-length movie can be anywhere from 500mb-1.2GB, which can add up pretty quickly.

If you are not looking to store movies on it, just run netflix and blu-rays with limited gaming, you might be able to get away with the 20GB. Remember, just because it says 20GB, there wont be 20GB of usable space and system data and apps like netflix and game updates will already take that down.

Personally, I prefer the new slim line over the old fat ones (I used to have a 60GB fat model before it crashed) The new ones are more efficient and quieter at the cost of backward compatibility. Make sure you get a warrenty if you go the used route.

I'd go with the 250GB. Not unless there's a lot of PS2 games you REALLY want to play and know you'll play a lot. Going by your initial post, I'm assuming you don't have any PS2 games

I do have GTA Vice City & Tony Hawk 3 for some reason but they're old and scratched. I think they were an old roomates or something

I found a 120 for $219, but the 250 at the other location is $220 so that doesn't make much sense.

My real wish is finding a newer model for under $200...anyone know a good place to look online or a store?
