...need to be kicked in the nuts, repeatedly.

Two brothers who shot and killed a sheriff's deputy have placed photos of the slain lawman outside the entrance of their farm, calling it a "warning" to other law enforcement officials.

The Associated Press reports that the photos show the "bullet-riddled bodies" of Roane County Deputy Bill Jones and ride-along Mike Brown, who were shot and killed on May 11, 2006, after arriving at the home of Rocky Houston to deliver an arrest warrant.

"It goes without saying that any public display on their own property of these photos in whatever manner by the Houstons is despicable and certainly runs counter to the Houstons' claims of innocence," District Attorney General Russell Johnson said in a news release.

...

Rocky and Leon Houston were acquitted of murder charges when prosecutors were unable to prove that they fired first after Jones and Brown entered their property. The Houston brothers insist that the two men showed up to kill them and opened fire without warning.

Both brothers were acquitted in separate trials in 2009 and 2010. However, Brown's family was awarded $5 million in damages in a wrongful death suit against the Houstons, which was settled in April 2012.

Chief Deputy Tim Phillips, who was friends with Jones, says the posted images are painful to view. "To see anybody, let alone someone that you knew, someone who wears the same uniform and does the same job as you, it's really disturbing to see that whether it's on a billboard or whether it's on the Internet. It's awful," Phillips told local TV outlet WATE.

The Houston brothers obtained copies of the crime scene photos during their trial and have posted them, along with various legal documents, on at least six different locations on their property.

They were acquitted in separate trials.

Edit: apparently one of the dead cops had been harassing and threatening to use lethal force against one of the brothers the first chance he got. There had been a long time feud between the cops and the brothers.

One brother was unarmed on the porch when pd pulled up. Cop exits vehicle and begins firing. Brothers duck into house, retrieve weapons, and return fire.

Maybe the cops have gotten the message.

See edited post.

And that's fine. I'm not trying to suggest that they somehow slipped through the cracks of justice. I accept that two separate juries acquitted them and that's a very powerful argument for their innocence.

But displaying pictures of the bullet riddled body of the deceased, even when they attacked you, is in very bad taste.

When you have an ongoing feud with the law and they do everything in their power to basically try to assassinate you, I get where the brothers are coming from. I bet the law there will heed the warning.

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
