Because We know that Godfrey is a bad tackler. We have seen him every day at practice and know he has been coached by us this entire time. This guy we know nothing but the reputation from 11 .. till now.. So by that he could actually not be a horrible tackler he could have received sub par coaching. We won't know until we see.

That's what scouts are for..... If we bring in a guy because we want to see if he is or not a bad tackler at this stage of the season, I'll be highly disappointed.

Sure they have. But it's rare. Think how many players get cut each season. Now think how many of those guys go on to be stars. Yeah. Would you be excited about any Panthers player we've cut this season if you were on another team and your team signed them? 99.9% of the time, a player gets cut because he just doesn't have what it takes. Jarrett could always be an exception, sure. That can always be argued. This is a debate you can't lose.

Thank you thats better and I agree. However yes actually ill even use mcclain as the example if I knew my team was thin at DT and needed one more. I wouldn't see a problem in bringing in a youngster to see what he has and why the other team felt he was not what they needed. As a coach you should always have the mindset that you can bring the best out of a player. Especially if they've only been to one team and it wasn't for a very long time.

I'll do some fast research. Here are some quotes, put into one lump, from an Eagles board...

What a wasted pick Jarrett was. Another gem of a pick for Howie... I think Jarrett's inability to contribute on STs sealed the deal. Good riddance Jarrett. Did any of you college football fans like that pick? I'll admit that I'm far from a scout, but that pick had me scratching my head from day 1. That's what you get for drafting a 6th rounder in the 2nd. bring out the liberty bell and let it ring! the Eagles are free of jarrett!!!

I would go on. But you get the idea. And that was from just HALF of the first page on the guy.

i actually just got done reading that entire thread over there.. kinda dissappointed honestly was hoping there was at least some flash from the guy but i am glad I raised the question at least. There is always a reason to ask why. The only complement they gave to the guy was that he played ok as a backup. Oh well , maybe another one will come around this year or in the draft.

I have always thought Godfrey as a good physical tackler, especially in the run game. Martin is the one that scares me when it comes to tackling. Now coverage for Godfrey is a different story.

I like godfrey when he has help . What I don't like is godfrey vs a downhill runner.. it's just ugly.

Have you seen him play this year or during the pre season? I'm not trying to single you out or anything im being for serious what sort of things have you seen from the guy?

Yes. Porous instincts. It is like he doesn't know where he is on the field at times. And instincts for a safety is vital.
