Run D

Kuech the Sneak

Recommended Posts

In defense of the stats,

Drew did throw for about 50 passes (49 actually but basically 50) but only completed 31. Subtracting the touchdown that makes 30 completed passes that were stopped. There were 35 tackles attributed to DB's Only 2 passes went for more than 20 yards regardless of how much was in the air so take those 2 from the DB total. So 33 pass play's were stopped inside of 20 yards gained.

There were 27 rushing attempts including 2 by Brees, and 2 of those went for TD's. The DB's got 22 solo tackles.

Now even with my math that looks like a large chunk of our tackles were solo tackles by DB's and basically half of those plays were runs by Thomas and Ingram (down hill runners).

lol Some of you guys are really good at overreacting. You remind me of those crazy homeless people you see in disaster movies. I wasn't happy with how the backers tacked on that one drive, but that's about it. I'm sure Rivera will get the tackling up to speed. I also find it funny that people are still criticising the Luke pick. Ummmm... for one thing, I didn't see the need of an extra pass rusher after today's game. Relax.

You are an idiot Upshaw is a 3-4 LB.

LMFAO, hey dumbass skim through the conversation before you post.

The point I was making was that our backers mixed and the rest of our team dont fit. This is a problem because A. They have been made the focus of our defense, B. they are undersized for the down hill run and C. we run a lot of 3-4 d-line calls and pass coverages.

I could go into the nuances of 3-4 vs 4-3 but I doubt you would understand anyway. So sit back, grab a beer and unplug your keyboard because your typing is keeping your from learning something.

I did and I saw you are so stupid that you that you thought Ingram was drafted by the ravens.

Your massive amount of panic after two games is quite hilarious, we were obviously focused on stopping the pass when the runs occurred.

I dont think its overreacting, I hope it is but i dont think it is. Re watch the past two games. Kuechly is an animal, Beason is the best on the defense and second best on the team (Smitty #1), Davis has the biggest heart in the world and Anderson is solid and on the rise. But they are still over matched in size and will continue to give up big runs.

So the only way to defend your argument was to point out a typo. Okay I will take that. I typed Melvin Ingram, I meant Upshaw but that is not wat I typed the first time. Now you obviously dont know much about the game of football because you keep using that same rediculous argument. "We were trying to stop the pass"

That is laughable. You must be retarded to say something like that. Yeah offenses are only expected run at obvious times and NFL defenses should only be required to either stop the run or the pass at a time, right? That is what you think? That these guys or these teams dont have to be prepared to do both at any time? Why are you even on a forum. Atleast say something intelligible.

You can't compare our LBs to Courtney Upshaw. Different system, different skill set.

The gameplan was to defend the pass. We did that and won. Graham got us a couple times and they just screened us to death with sproles. Whatever. Their WRs were eliminated from the game (which was awesome)

Our run D stuffed them plenty of times. We were playing the Saints* (a top offense) and we had their offense contained pretty much throughout the bulk of the game.

And Ingram plays for San Diego. Take a walk meat

So when your up 15 points you should play run down packages right...

That is not a typo that is you being an ill informed unrealistic football fan.

My only question is when did you hop on the wagon I see you only joined after Cam.

Once again if you are going to quote me then first read my entire point of view. I know Upshaw is from a different system, that was the point. We will look a lot like a 3-4 defense real soon. We got D-ends dropping in coverage, DT's playing over the nose etc... That exposes our undersized LB's at the second level. The Saints* are not a running team. Tampa Bay, ATL (even though they are transitioning out of it), and the top teams in the league this year are running teams minus Greenbay and the Patriots. What do think will happen against a team that runs alot in that downhill lead block style.

No doubt its true that our run defense was not good today. Lots of missed tackles and Saints* backs running thru our guys. But I do think that part of that was our focus on the pass. New Orleans is a very talented offense, and and you aren't going to stop them really. But we were able to disrupt them in some areas, and keep Brees off balance. The defense is a work in progress. They still haven't looked great, but they are definitely improved over last year. Before this game, I felt if we could hold them below 30, then that is a defensive success. And we did and we won.

Regarding us being an elite team, I haven't seen a NFL team yet that I would consider elite. Talk to me in 6-9 weeks about that.

what every other team does...bring an extra guy down lol

i doubted the defense before the season but the guys returning from injury and the additions of a lineman, linebacker, and corner have made a big difference.

and i'd hold off on the 3-4 stuff...we dont have the personnel....and dropping a DE is just a wrinkle...it doesnt mean anything having to do w/ 3-4....

when we draft a 6'3 260+ lb or 2...then maybe.....but we wont be drafting an LB next year lol...at least i hope not

If you must know I have spent 6 of the past 10 years in various middle eastern countries partaking in the thorough ass whipping being dealt to various terrorist organizations over there. I haven't had a lot of time to spend sitting comfortably in front of a computer talking football so im gonna get as much out of it as I can while I can. And I joined the day I realized the huddle existed but you can search NFL Network for the same username and check out my posts.
