ZackAttack23's 2013 Panthers Mock Draft

Okay guys, it's halfway through the season and I felt like I had to do a 2013 mock draft. This will be my 1st one for 2013. The Panthers have some areas of need and they hope to fill those needs through the draft and free agency. I will only do the draft for this one. I'm gonna put in players where the Panthers would pick if they happened to stay where they were in the league standings, which I don't think they will. Also I will do potential trades after the season for my mock off-season, but I wont do that till like February. Anyway, Here we go!!!!!!!

Round 1:

Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah 6-3 320 Lbs.

We need a big, young Defensive Tackle to grow with the defense. Star is very strong at the point of attack, he can shed double teams very well, and fast for his size. Getting one this talented will help a lot.

Round 2:

Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon St. 5-11 190 Lbs.

Has very good coverage skills and can return kickoffs.

Round 4:

Stedman Bailey, WR, West Virginia 5-10 195 Lbs.

Would be another good option for Cam and Co. to use on offense as well as special teams. I know some may want a WR earlier to start besides Steve and put LaFell 3rd on depth chart, but we should wait till the 2014 draft.

Round 5:

Alvin Bailey, OG, Arkansas 6-5 320 Lbs.

Is really good at run-blocking and improving at pass-protection. Would backup Geoff Hangartner and take over in a year or two,

Round 6:

Chris Thompson, RB, Florida St. 5-8 187 Lbs.

Would be nice to have a scat back.

Round 7:

Jordan Kovacs, SS, Michigan 5-11 197 Lbs.

To have depth at the position is always good and he will help on special teams.

-Love Star.

-But why take a CB in the second? Where's our FS help? And if you were going to take one, why not a Carrington Byndom or Xavier Rhodes?

-Wouldnt mind S. Bailey but he's 5'10. And dnt say 89 is 5'8.

-No way A. bailey is there in the 5th. 5th??

Trust me, by the time the draft rolls around you will know about Poyer. Btw I think Byndom and Rhodes will be gone by the time we draft in the 2nd.

Stedman Bailey is a beast. We'd be lucky to find him in the 4th and I would love it. I've watched a lot of WVU games and this guy is a stud. First, his conditioning is amazing. Him AND Tavon Austin. They don't take plays off, and are constantly going long/running in that offense. Don't worry about his size, he has amazing speed and catching ability, he would be a perfect guy to replace Steve Smith when he leaves. Seems to have great character.

I'm not sure we need CB over FS now either. I'd go so far to say, if there is a elite/great caliber safety in our team we need to use our first round pick on them.

    • Good, our ST is almost as bad as our ILB depth!
    • With two starters on expiring contracts (Moton + Corbett) as well as a few back-ups (Christensen, Mays, and Nijman), the Panthers are likely going to have to reinvest in the OL after this coming season. Icky's fifth-year option was picked up by the team this offseason while Lewis and Hunt both remain under contract then (though Lewis' deal is set-up in a way that would let Carolina move on from him then as well). I think that the team is going to be looking at investing a premium pick at RT should Bryce's development continue, and might even look to double dip at the position in order to have a swing tackle that can also kick inside when needed. There's also the question of starting center... Prospects I'm watching this upcoming college season... Centers Jake Slaughter (Florida) Iapani Laloulu (Oregon) Connor Lew (Auburn) Logan Jones (Iowa) Parker Brailsford (Alabama) Connor Tollison (Missouri) Bryce Foster (Kentucky) Pat Coogan Notre Dame) Raheem Anderson (Michigan) Carson Hinzman (Ohio State) RTs Francis Mauigoa (Miami) Kadyn Proctor (Alabama) Spencer Fano (Utah) Gennings Dunker (Iowa) Blake Miller (Clemson) Isaiah World (Oregon) Caleb Tiernan (Northwestern) Monroe Feeling (Georgia) Earnest Greene III (Georgia) Monroe Mills (Louisville) Charles Jagusah (Notre Dame) Tree Babalade (South Carolina) Trey Zuhn III (Texas A&M) Nolan Rucci (Penn State) Tristan Leigh (Clemson) Fernando Carmona (Arkansas) JC Davis (Illinois) Riley Mahlman (Wisconsin) PJ Williams (SMU) Tosh Baker (Notre Dame) Aki Ogunbiyi (Texas A&M) Courtland Ford (Kentucky) Ethan Onianwa (Rice)
    • I watched documentary on the 2010 Auburn season and Cam wasn’t included in that either. I think he just doesn’t care for these things
