Finally admit

Okay, I think I'm finally ready to admit that it's not just coaches and players that have made this team bad. It all starts from the top and runs down hill. The only way I'd feel differently now is to see JR can Rivera tomorrow just to show he has a pulse. JR surrounded himself with poor front office staff for way too long and couldn't see that this was the problem. Instead he fires Fox and let's Hurney hire this sorry ass excuse of a coach. This is just no fun to watch and its like a bad dream that keeps coming back.

People keep thinking coaching will fix this. It wont. New ownership will. Since he's come back look what's happened

People thought the 49ers had bad ownership too until Harbough got the job...It starts with GM...Hire a good coach and a good OC and 5 point losses turn into 5 point wins...

Sad that earlier. JR hires a good GM and let's him run the show it could turn around. I will say that I think hiring the consultant was a good first step.

    • Nijman would be one of the worst RT or LT's we have had in a long time. He is incapable of being a long term replacement. He is occasionally okay in spot duty. We had a significantly better backup suited to taking over the duties at RT/LT for longer stretches and not becoming a turnstile(like Nijman) in pass protection, it was BC. He is gone, however. I think any thoughts of jettisoning Moton are immediately null and void with Ikey out for 2026. Had you returned Ikey, Lewis, and Hunt it's easy to spend some money or draft capital at C and then perhaps look at cheaper options for RT. Now we are inna scenario where we cannot be looking at two replacement OT's in the same offseason. That will be somewhere between an utter disaster to prohibitively expensive.  The best course of action is try to get a solid, older veteran on a one year deal to replace Ikey, sign/draft a long term C and hopefully find a future RT prospect(with some LT ability?) in the draft. This gives you a LOT of flexibility and leeway in 2027 if you opt to jettison Ikey or Moton.
    • Remember that Coker isn't actually a free agent at all. He is an ERFA which means we can technically ink at league minimum and he cannot negotiate with other teams.
    • IMO you only fire a coach for a few reasons 1. He isnt getting the most he can out of the roster/talent - can’t say that applies to Canales 2. He’s lost the locker room and players are checked out - I would say that’s not the case and the complete opposite with Canales 3. Team keeps coming up short in the playoffs with a Super Bowl level roster and they just need to make a change to see if a new coach can get them over the hump (think McDermott if the Bills don’t make the Super Bowl again) - Obviously that can’t apply to Canales yet 4. It has simply run its course and become stagnant and a change is needed (John Harbaugh) - Again doesnt apply to Canales
