Buying Diamond Earrings...

Kettle

Recommended Posts

...As a gift for my wife this Christmas. Does anyone have any advice?

I'm wondering if the clarity is a huge deal on diamonds that aren't that big. I will probably go and look for myself, but wondering what common opinion is. I've found these, and they look good all around but the clarity rating is bad.

I bought something from Blue Nile just today for our anniv and they are fine.

However when I bought my wife diamond earrings 2 years a go I went through the diamond district in NYC and saved about 50% off blue nile. got 1c each diamond cut for $4500 and they were over $9,000 on blue nile. If you can ask around and find a good contact there it will save you tons. I know you don't have time to do it this time around but think about that in the future.

Does he ship? I know pretty much exactly what I want now. 1/3 cttw, princess cut, 14k white gold.

blue nile is a little cheaper than what I paid for that, but Jared does their whole program with the warranty like free cleaning and inspection.

I got a 1ct diamond from diamond direct for $4k. Same diamond was $9k on blue nile website. But blue nile settings are much cheaper. I paid $3k for setting at diamond direct and blue nile had similar one for $1.5k. So u win some, you lose some. Diamond direct offers free cleaning and resizing for life tho.

Clarity on earrings is not a big deal, I wouldn’t go anything higher than VS2, waste of money. Color and cut are the most important.

As for diamonds direct, that’s where I bought my wife’s ring. They will almost always beat a Jared, Kay, etc. The free cleaning and ring sizing is great, although it can take a while to get your rings back.

I got them to order/match the price from this website: http://www.overnightdiamonds.com/ The diamond was in a supplier warehouse and they were able to get it.

They matched the price which was way lower than what they were offering, plus they took the risk about shipment, etc.

    • Jarvis and Aho like scoring vs the flyers. This is the get right series for this line.
    • I like it, but really our future hinges on three very important and expensive things we really can't predict right now. 1. Bryce. He either is or isn't going to be the guy. We won't know until this coming season ends. If he puts us in the 10 wins category and continues to improve (that TD-INT ratio is the big tell there), he won't be cheap. But I don't think he's going to be getting anywhere near the bank breaking amounts, unless we see some kind of Drew Brees-type emergence. 2. Can Icky even come back to play? At all. LT, guard or RT. I sure hope he can and I'd love to see him at guard. If he can come back, though, he's looking at vet pay at whatever position. $10 million a year is probably what we're looking at if he has to change position, if he can still play LT then it gets very steep. We might end up looking at letting him hit to open market. 3. Taylor Moton. Love the guy and he's been the picture perfect Right Tackle. The question is will he want to keep doing this? He's getting long in the tooth but he's still a hell of a scrapper out there. If he wants to go and we really want him to stay, well that costs big bucks. While RTs are supposedly easier to replace than LTs, it's still a tough one for us.  And we won't know anything on this until after training camp and then season end. Dan Morgan's got a lot of stuff in the "still to be decided" bin on his desk.
