1st

1. Star (ok, not totally realistic, but poo happens. Fairley fell to around 13 after being talked about as a possible #1)

2. Hankins

3a. Warmack

3b. Richardson (despite what it's looked like by my arguing in other threads, I do actually like him as a prospect, I just want to make sure we get a run stuffer and Richardson ain't it.)

2nd

1. Tennessee WR, either Patterson or Hunter

2. Barrett Jones

3a. Da'rick Rogers

3b. Jesse Williams (jumps to #1 if we don't get a run stuffer in the 1st)

And when are you guys going to realize that we don't draft DTs in the first round?

lol... at least 2 easily identifiable problems with that.

A ) We didn't draft QBs in the first round before last year either.

B ) Kris Jenkins

Not to mention a new GM nullifies any attempt to use our drafting patterns of the past to predict what we might do.

All of those are valid arguments, but unless there is a dominent defensive tackle, we will not draft one. JR is still in charge at the end of the day.

It's really hard to see which way we will go until we sign free agents. I think we like what we have on our D-line, especially if we can get Edwards back. Now if for some reason both Edwards' leave us, than we'll definitely be looking for a replacement.

Hankins has bust written all over him, you guys will see his stock draft drastically by April just like Devon Still was top 10 ranked this time last year and went in the 3rd.

Kris Jenkins was a very dominent DT that we could not pass up on. Cam was #1 pick with a new coach, it was a no brainer. In the spot that we'll be drafting, I do not see any can't miss defensive linemen like Peppers/Jenkins.

Last year I would say over 75% of this forum was dead set on us either drafting Coples or Cox, and we went Kuechly. This franchise is about BPA, not "oh let's draft this big D-lineman ad hope he pans out."

It's still early, y'all are gonna laugh at some of the guys you considered as our first pick when you see them in the 3rd-7th round in April.

Heh, I'd love it if Hankins fell to us in the 2nd :) And you're right, it's way too early to be trying to accurately project where people will be taken in the draft. All I go off of is what I watch on youtube and the popular opinions of online mock drafts (much more so the former than the latter, I've seen more than one mock have us taking Bjeorn Werner, even one having us take Montgomery....). So, just based on what I've seen from youtube clips and popular opinions of where they'll likely be going, Hankins is a good fit for us. We'll see if that's still the case come March and April.

We really need a run stuffer. If we can get a stud in the 1st, like Star and Hankins are supposed to be (based off current info), then I couldn't be happier. If we have to settle for a middle of the road type guy, basically a younger Ron Edwards (which is what Jesse Williams sounds and looks like at the moment) then I'm fine spending a 2nd on that. But we have to plug the middle. It is easily the most important, critical position we need to fill ASAP. The O-line will be better when Kalil is back at Center. Even IF R. Edwards comes back and is able to play, I'd be shocked if he is both as effective as he was at the start of this year and also able to play a whole year.

I'm more worried about Dwan Edwards staying. With Dwan, Charles and Greg, whoever we've put at NT has done well. Look at Mario Addison.

So basically the smart thing to do would be not to waste a first rounder on a NT when we could get a REALLY good player. Find a NT in the 2nd or free agency.

Star is out of the question and Hankins should be to. Hankins is going to be that guy everyone gives the Panthers in mock drafts because they don't know that he is on the decline and that we won't waste a first rounder on a NT.

1. Warmack OG

2. T. Williams WR

3. E. Fisher OT

2nd round:

1. Jefferson FS

2. P. Thomas FS

3. Floyd DT

Big fan of Warmack and the safties. I don't understand the Floyd hype. Seems like he's the new hot name on here, production isn't there for that kind of love.

      Then why are they paying QBs so much compared to other players? QB are making so much it's harder and harder to pay other players. If a guy plays like 1 of 11 then there pay should be in line with that. Not all QB should be breaking the bank just because your next or a former 1st rounder There is a reason they say try to win it all on a QB rookie deal because after that they can cripple a team on what it can do. I would rather not do that for a bottom 1/3 QB. Cam and Jake have been the only QBs worth investing long term into this team has had I would rather not lower the bar. If a guy don't got the IT factor and it shows I would rather not invest long term into them and keep looking

      I mean, I hear what y'all are saying, but Derrick could have been positive without being negative.  He essentially accused people of not seeing Bryce's improvement because of their desire to not be wrong. He could've kept it about Bryce and the team. For example, he could've said: "Bryce has made strides, and we believe in him. This coming season, his continued improvement will turn a lot of people into believers."  That would've been supportive of his teammate and sent a message to the doubters. That being said, his tact almost summoned and left the door ajar for more skepticism. That's my take anyway. Bryce has improved from the bottom to perhaps skirting the line between the bottom third and mid-third at best...after three seasons. We've all seen it. Yay! In my mind, Bryce has still got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but my expectations are top five--at least top 10--always! Yes, I am a fan, so there's that, but I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect excellence. Hopefully the Panthers FO has the same mindset (and that doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with what we gave up to acquire him). That is the lens I'm looking through. Derrick Brown has his homer glasses on. He just needs to be more diplomatic and thoughtful with his words in my opinion, but I get it that he's a good teammate.
