Shariff Floyd/Matt Elam, tonight in the Sugar Bowl

Two huge prospects for us. Both realistic picks in the second round,

I use to be iffy on Elam, but he looks like a solid defensive back at the next level, especially how well Godfrey has panned out at FS. This guy could be the missing piece in our secondary.

Shariff Floyd is just as talented as any of the DTs besides Star IMO. You'll see how disruptive he is tonight in the run and pass. I'd love to get a receiver or offensive linemen and then draft Floyd in the 2nd.

Who else is watching?

I'd really like Floyd as well. As of now, my prefect draft would be Warmack/Fisher in the 1st, Floyd in the second, with a possible sleeper WR pick like Marques Wilson later on. However, I definitely wouldn't mind Matt Elam in the second.

im watching and wow. but my sleeper pick is Xavier Nixon LT for Florida. guess where he is from? another local talent guy from NC. a decent LT prospect who could be there in the 4th round, but i thought that same thing about Marcus Gilbert but he went in the 2nd.

Posted this in the other thread, here it is for reference.

Allstate Sugar Bowl Prospects

Louisville

Mario Benavides- Center- Projected Round: 5-6 (He would be a good back up for Kalil)

Adrian Bushell- Cornerback - Projected Round: 4 (Would be a decent starting corner opposite Gamble)

Florida

Sharrif Floyd - Defensive Tackle - Projected Round: 1-2 (Looks to be like a starting caliber DT, would look good with Dwan Edwards in the middle)

Omar Hunter- Defensive Tackle - Projected Round: 7-FA (Big DT, would be solid depth on the defensive line)

Josh Evans - Free Safety- Projected Round: 5 (Would be good depth at the safety position)

Caleb Sturgis - Kicker - Projected Round: 7 (Easily one of the best kickers in the draft)

Xavier Nixon- Offensive Tackle - Projected Round: 4-5 (Possible a sleeper OT, has good size and measurable's)

Matt Elam - Strong Safety - Projected Round: 1 (Best SS in the class, really solid player and should be a good starter)

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
